Here is a cute number from a very old film. It is --- kya kehtey hain (?) --- "quintessential" Kishore. Not the best sound quality (courtesy: HMV), but of nostalgic value. And don't miss the name of the composer.
U/L: "Tumhen dulhan mili" (Kishore Kumar & chorus / Film: HUMSAFAR (1953) / Music: Ustad Ali Akbar Khan / Lyrics: Sahir) If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

ANECDOTE:
"PYAR KIYE JA" (1966) was the remake of a super-hit Tamil comedy that had a title meaning "Not enough time for love". Apparently that title didn't translate well into Hindi. In the Hindi version, the principal male characters were played by Shashi Kapoor, Kishore Kumar and Mehmood. Mehmood had originally declined the offer to act in this film. When he sensed that the producer was exceedingly keen on having him for a role in the movie, the comedian casually demanded twice his going rate --- certain that his ludicrous price would be dismissed off-hand, thereby giving the actor his way out of the project. To his utter surprise, the producer agreed, and Mehmood had no choice but to act in the movie. What Mehmood was paid for the role exceeded even that of Shashi Kapoor, let alone Kishore Kumar. In what then seemed as a half-joking remark, Kishore Kumar told Mehmood that one day he would make up for that imbalance. He didn't have long to wait. Buoyed by the success of an allout comedy film "PYAR KIYE JA", Mehmood once again donned the mantle of producer. He planned to make another comedy, "PADOSAN" based on the story picturised in a Bengali movie. Years earlier, he had produced "CHHOTE NAWAB" and he had also dabbled in film direction. Mehmood approached Kishore Kumar to play a major role in his film. The actor-singer readily agreed, then asked: "How much will I be paid"? Mehmood asked Kishore Kumar to quote the sum. Imagine Mehmood's stunned look when he heard the words, "Twice what you earned for "PYAR KIYE JA"! But Kishore was not being serious. For when Mehmood agreed to the figure, he responded, "But that would ruin you". Yet, Mehmood did not resent paying the atrocious amount. He was well aware of the pivotal role Kishore would have in paving the way to his film's success. His conviction was not belied. "PADOSAN" went on to become one of the biggest comedy hits in Hindi movie annals, ranking at the top along with "CHALTI KA NAAM GAADI". Kishore returned that gesture in later years. He volunteered his service gratis, as a guest-artiste, for a film in which Mehmood had a financial stake. (Information sourced from "KISHORE KUMAR - The Definitive Biography" by Kishore Valicha) If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

While we identify Kishore-da with the compositions of SDB & RDB and perhaps, later with Bhappi Lahiri, here is vintage Kishore Kumar singing a Husnlal-Bhagatram composition, a duet with Lata-ji for the 1952 film "KAFILA":
If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Just when I was losing hope of finding a rare old song by Kishore-da, I came across this gem from a 1955 film "AAWAZ" with music by Salil Chowdhury:
If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

For the first time this thread is encountering 13th October. And in commemoration of the life and contributions of Kishore-da, here is a familiar classic.
Kishore Kumar was merely a guest artiste in Bimal Roy's "Pariwar" (1956). In the movie, he appeared only in one small segment and left an everlasting impression --- a sequence that remains a classic forever. In a stage performance scene he appeared in multiple personalities, a young man, an old man, a sanyasi, a ruffian, a woman, etc. In humble tribute to a great artiste and personality, here is the song. I wish I had the skills to offer the video version. In respectful and gratetful memory: (8.40 minutes) If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Thanks for this lovely number, Unniji! Kishore Kumar was the biggest name in the movie, and so his photo (in which he appeared rather sad!) was very prominently displayed on the VCD cover, so I thought that he was the main protagonist. The disappointment I felt when I found that his was only a guest appearance did not last long, for this amazing song and its picturization made up for everything!

Where I live, some the most intelligent programing on American television appears on Public Television stations. These stations are not supported by advertising revenue or government funds, just by membership support.
Hence, from time to time, these stations have to appeal to the viewers for their support. The stations present particularly appealing programs on those special occasions when they conduct fund-raisers, to ensure they attract maximum viewing. Whereas at HF, on a daily basis, we try to offer what appeals to our entire membership, with discussions, educational information, news articles, humour, art, music, photographs, etc. Please take a moment of your time to access: http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?showtopic=4855 It is sincerly requested and hoped that you will respond favourably. If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.
