It seemed to me that, in the movie, Kamini Kaushal was made up to look like Noor Jehan. Would you agree that Lata-ji's singing style in this song is a hark-back to the days of Noor Jehan's domination of HFM?

Nutan perhaps never looked prettier than in "NAGINA" (1951), her first adult role after having acted in a couple of films as a child-artiste. It was an adults-only film and, whether true or not, it's been said that a diligent watchman outside a theatre screening the film barred Nutan from watching her own film because she was still underage!

The DVD cover describes "NAGINA" as "A MUSICAL HORROR FILM"! But then most of our movies are musical horrors! tongue.gif

This film had some classic greats of HFM, composed by Shankar-Jaikishen and sung by C. H. Atma and Lata Mangeshkar.

Here's the evergreen 'haunting' song, a gorgeous number and one of the most memorable and treasured renditions of Lata-ji:
