Friends,

I got this great picture courtesy two Pancham fans, Kamal and Mr. Nandan.

A BEAUTIFUL picture of Rafi saab and Pancham. This is one of the sessions in which they are rehearsing one of the many masterpiece compositions they came out with.

It seems this pic was taken sometime around the late sixties/early seventies.

Enjoy !! smile.gif

My pleasure Akbar bhai !

Rafi saab's last two songs in a Nasir Husain film, the NH-RD-Rafi team created many chartbuster scores together in an association that lasted more than a decade.

There are two versions of this song, the first "Poocho Na Yaar Kya Hua...." one is a Rafi-Asha duet where Rafi comes in for the last stanza, and throughout the song there are dialogues by Rishi Kapoor and Padmini K. The next version "Bolo Bolo Kuch To Bolo..." is mostly a Rafi solo set at a faster pace, with Asha coming in at the beginning of the song.

Film: Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai
Year: 1981
Lyrics: Majrooh Sultanpuri

Poocho Na Yaar Kya Hua

Bolo Bolo Kuch To Bolo

These two tracks had the fresh aura of the 80's which RD had mastered along with many of his great hits of the 80's era. The Rafi-Asha duet version was one of many of RD's finest compositions, which blended rythyms of arabian, mexican beats surounded by the RD sound.

There is a solo version of "Poocho Na Yaar Kya Hua" by Rafi which starts off slowly and as soon as Rafi hits " Chak Chak Cha cha chaar " a great Disco beat comences to a superb composition! This is probably Rafi's only Disco track. It just shows Rafi had the Disco element as well, as this was the beginning of the Disco era.

Its so unfortunate Rafi had passed away at that time, coz Rafi had what it takes for the 80's era.

hi all,

Can anyone give me the link for downloading the song Poocho na yaar Kya hua (Duet version of Asha ji & Rafi Saab ).

Good one Ali; whenever I see a picture of RDB I think of Penfold, know him?

My pleasure friends ! smile.gif

Nah Flex, who's Penfold ?.

---------------------------

Two more interesting bits of trivia. In a Jaimala program on Vividh Bharti, RDB went gaga over Rafi saying that he and only he could bring a compelling sense of expression to his conception from 'Chandan Ka Palna', Tumhe Dekha Hai Maine.

Ameen Sayani interviewed RD after Rafi had passed away and in that interview RD mentioned that he approached Rafi apprehensively for Yamma Yamma (Shaan) because that song had to be sung in a different scale which was in RD's comfort zone. He also said that every singer, Lata Kishore and Asha had a range but "Rafi saab ka range kamaal hai".
