Just last week I was "trapped" in the car on long drives, 6 hours each way, with my daughter driving and constantly playing her loud rock music.

Oh what a terrible journey!

Unni,

I had already uploaded the Asra song last week in the section that reads "Rafisaab's Magic"

Cheers

PLAYBACK SINGING STARTS AND ENDS WITH RAFISAAB. IN TERMS OF QUALITY, CONSISTENCY & VERSATILITY, RAFISAAB IS INFINITE LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF ALL SINGERS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER HIM.

What little I learnt of Hindi from my pundit in school I developed a little more through my love of HFM. In the process I've learnt a little of Urdu too. Consequently I believe I can understand most of the lines/words of a song. Otherwise I refer to my Hindi/English and Urdu/English dictionaries.

But this is one song in which I could not understand virtually one word or line.

Yet music, like love, transcends language.

The lines of the master-poet Ghalib. The voice of the master-singer, Rafi-sahab. The music of a class composer Khayyam, in a non-film ghazal.

It would be sincerely appreciated if one of our Urdu-speaking bhai/behen would kindly offer at least a "gist' of the song for the benefit of listeners.

(Thanks to advice from Yusuf-bhai, I was able to convert this song at 96 kbps).

If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Please forgive the typo. The song line should read: "AE TAAZA VAARIDAN-E-BISAT-EHUWA-E-DIL" (whatever that means!).

I just can't seem to get it right! "AE TAAZA VAARIDAN-E-BISAT-E-HUWA-E-DIL"

Anyway.

Many of us grew up hearing the legendary singer Saigal-sahab's rendering of "Nookthacheen hai ghum-e-dil".

Here's Ghalib's famous ghazal in the voice of the immortal Rafi-sahab. Music by Khayyam in this non-filmi ghazal.

I have retained the narration at the begining, quoting Ghalib's piquant response to the English interrogator!

And do not miss the "kharaash" in his voice when he renders "aatish" in the oft-quoted line "Ishq pur zor nahin, hai yeh woh aatish Ghalib".

If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Oon do haseen ghazlon kay baad mein aapko kya soonaoon?

So here's some lighter fare.

The first one from 1964: "Paas baytho thubeeyut behel jaayeygi" (Film: "PUNAR MILAN / Music: C. Arjun)

If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

And here's the last one for this evening:

"Maana merey haseen sanam" (Film: "The Adventures of Robin Hood" / Music: G. S. Kohli --- who used to be a musician for OPN and later an assistant).

If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

U/L: "Shokh Aankhen" (Rafi/Asha / Film: ?)

Would someone please post the name of the movie?

Sounds like a Madan Mohan number. Was it "Neend hamarey khwaab tumhare" and was he the MD for that movie?

Hi Unni G,

One question mate; how comes most of your songs only play through one channel?
