Where I live, some the most intelligent programing on American television appears on Public Television stations. These stations are not supported by advertising revenue or government funds, just by membership support.

Hence, from time to time, these stations have to appeal to the viewers for their support. The stations present particularly appealing programs on those special occasions when they conduct fund-raisers, to ensure they attract maximum viewing.

Whereas at HF, on a daily basis, we try to offer what appeals to our entire membership, with discussions, educational information, news articles, humour, art, music, photographs, etc.

On my recent visit to India, one item on my "TO DO"
list was to acquire the stamps issued by the Postal
Department to honour Hemant Kumar, Kishore Kumar,
Mohd. Rafi and Mukesh.

By sheer chance I came across a shop in Mumbai that
catered to stamp-collectors. Upon enquiry, the owner
pulled out a tray with a few hundred used stamps.
For the next 15 minutes he sifted through it, while I
waited patiently. He managed to find all four, and
charged me for the used stamps the face-value
of each (Rs. 5) ! tongue.gif I was just happy to get them.
No complaints from me.

But long before this, I had designed a CD cover which
I reproduce below. Thanks to Chitralekha's post to Preety,
I was able to convert my MS Publisher creation into JPEG
to make this posting possible.
