Many thanks for this beautiful bhajan.

I think the uploaded song is not complete. Will be grateful, if you can manage the complete song.

Pradeep

I'd ripped this from the film disc quite some time back. But, as I recollect, the song is in the background during the titles, and is a short track in the movie. Maybe there is a longer version as an audio release, but I don't have that. sad.gif

This dhaaga, one of the longest-running songs-threads in our forum, is in itself a humble effort to pay constant tribute to the memory of Rafi-sahab. It is a standing testimony to the musical genius of a man who, 26 years ago, left behind an ever-lasting legacy that gives us, each day, moments of wonderment, ecstasy, joy; moments of peace or reflection, moments when the voice, the singing, tugs at the heart, vibrates the chords of the soul.

On this date, the print media and radio and TV and internet sites would be reminding us of that timeless artiste.

"Kachha Dhaaga" marks this day with a song of tribute to Music itself, in the voice for the ages.

This song has been uploaded earlier, but this track is the full version from the movie. Music-director/Singer Hemant Kumar himself lent his voice for the film's other male-voice song-sections. But, for the song in the pivotal scene at the beginning, which sets the tone for the whole movie, he called upon The Voice, The Singer --- that musical titan, our beloved Rafi-sahab.

We've come across the phrase "The Voice of God" used in exaggerated, perhaps sacriligeous eulogy to extol the merits of an admired/favourite singer. I'd imagine God communicates in silent thoughts. Perhaps, the closest that comes to accuracy in defining the uniqueness of Rafi-sahab is to describe his as the most melodious, the most appealing male singing voice, of unbounded versatility and range.

A 90-minute recorded program of tribute to the life and contributions of Rafi-sahab, with 20 less-heard songs, is featured at "mohdrafi.com":
http://www.mohdrafi.com/meri-awaaz-suno/re...y.html#more-152

For the benefit of HF members, to facilitate download, the program is uploaded here in smaller files:

For almost half a century his voice has been a constant companion. Steadfast and true. In good times and bad. Thinking back, it seems unbelievable, almost miraculous, that I had the remarkable good fortune to set eyes upon him, see him walk and talk, to see and hear him sing!

Thank-you, Sir, for the Music.

Thank-you, for the Memories. bow.gif

Thanks Unni for your indefatigable efforts to keep the flames of memory of such a titan alive. I've not as yet unzipped the program but I am sure it will be just wonderful.

Thanks a lot Unni Ji for this excellent tribute to this great legend and these songs will revive our nostagic memories.

However I could extract part 2 of 33.59 minutes, but while extracting part one it says file 26DA_1.part11.rar is missing and hence could not extract part 1.

Thanks, Mohd-ji for bringing this to my attention. Sorry, I had missed one file. I have now uploaded it and marked it in red.

Dear Rafians,

Since there are several threads of tribute to Rafi-sahab, would you mind if they were all merged as one topic?

If you agree, we'll put all the posts in the thread that was posted first.

Bahut Bahut Shukriya Zippoo Ji for the complete song. Hearing the full song after ages.

About 30 years back, HMV brought out an Extended Play record of of Janam Janam Ke Phere along with Samrat Chandragupt. In this record they gave 2 songs from JJKP, the title song and the the popular Rafi - Lata duet, Zara Saamne Toh Aao. But as was their wont, they gave only the abridged version of title song. I do have this record back home in Mumbai but was always craving to listen to the full song. Thanks to you, now I have the complete song.
