It just so happened that I acquired a set of CDs of rare old songs. In this thread, the CDQ definition would apply only to those uploads of mine.

As you know, "rare" is more valuable to me than "CDQ". And rarely do we obtain in CDQ the very old songs. Sometimes the CD issues themselves contain the needle sounds, yet the voice quality is not compromised --- unlike what happens when sound-editing has been done to remove pop/crackle and reduce hiss.

Hence, I hope members will feel free to upload rare old songs in this thread, especially the ones that are requested.

If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

The list I have says it is a duet with Surendra but this file has only the female voice. sad1.gif Very short too and seems to end abruptly. Probably incomplete. sad1.gif Nice song but.

BC had requested this. From the Golden Collection and unlike the new re-releases, this one is on a gold cd. Got the Talat double set, NJ double set all on gold cds. biggrin.gif

This gazab kiya tere waade pe aitbaar kiya is a common poem/song? Same thing in Noor Jehan's Intezaar. Think I saw a Rafi ul too with that title. blink.gif Someone educate me. tongue1.gif

I wish I could get that panchi aur pardesi song in better quality. I had bought the entire Shamshad set available on HCD but they did not have it. Should try and check with collectors and pray they have a decent copy.

006 Mera chand Aa Gaya - majhdhar - 1947 - Khursheed & Surendra

Naseem Akhtar was younger sister of Sardar Akhtar (mrs Mehboob)
and Bahar Akhtar (Mrs A R Kardar).


Naseem Akhtar was introduced by Khursheed Anwar or Ghulam Haider (dont rem which one). Migrated to Pakistan and married a cinema owner.

To the best of my knowledge, "Gazab Kiya" was written by Qamar Jalalabadi and recorded by Anil Biswas in the voice of Rajkumari for the 1954 film "WAARIS". I don't know if the ghazal already had a history by then. But subsequently, it has been sung (outside of films) by numerous artistes including Mohd. Rafi, Mehdi Hassan, Jagjit Singh, even Kavitha Krishnamurthy.

Oh. Intezaar with the Noor Jehan version is 1956. Lyrics Qatil Shifai. I wonder if that piece is some sher before all these films. Inaam kahan hai? camera.gif

Gazab kiya, tere vade pe aitabar kiya
tamam rat qayamat ka intezar kiya


hansa hansa ke shab-e-vasl ashk-bar kiya
