Oh ya MJ! But when I do post pix with 1: humans (atleast my hat is visible in one pic) and 2. Animals, some souls claim it very enlightening with a bored face!

Shivji,
yeh mat poochhiye ki photo kaise hain sad1.gif
I am forced to agree with T-ji's observation (but from a photographer's point of view)
Nature pics are lifeless and incomplete until they have some live objects in them - choice 1: humans. choice 2: animals

The first set of pics is passable. The second (Galway) is really proper. Pls read tips in the 'few 1000 words' thread...

Good Lord!!! There is a theory like that? And as always why do I turn out to be anti-establishment? cry.gif

I remember when Dad was working, every year he would get a Norwegian calendar with the most gorgeous pics. I adored them and always appropriated the calendar for my room. Then one year I presume they read about this principle (maybe Mandrake visited Norway tongue.gif ) and the pics had lovely cliffs and one silly human basking in the sun or a beautiful sea scene and some creeps on a beach and I was so disappointed--I felt these were eyesores that marred the awesome beauty of nature. Raw, natural, beautiful. I do not mind sheep grazing in a field and so on. Maybe I would not mind a traditional Red Indian in a Wild America pic (not sure) but civilised man seems to stand out like a sore thumb in a picture of ancient or natural beauty!!! My 2 invalid cents. sad1.gif

Priya, PERFECTLY VALID 2 DOLLARS!!!!

You just caught the right flavour smile1.gif
The people in the pix must blend into the pic. Like u said, a red indian maybe?
The people are almost always a fair distance away, so that you can't make out the faces. They can be in dark silhouettes in setting sun, or turned away in daytime pix.

The idea is to give a human scale to the pic.
The people should never steal focus of the pic...

Self - belief is the most potent force.

OK, get the idea. But why is a human scale necessary? Why do we wish to see ourselves everywhere?

U said 1. humans 2. animals.

Now even if the animals are not silhouettes or miniscule figures, they blend in pics well. We with our artificial colours and plastic and what not just do not. Not that I am advocating that ppl take pics in their birthday suits or anything. laugh.gif

Disagree. One is free to shoot what one likes. everything is alive .. most of all nature.

Maybe we unconsciously equate alive with inhabited. So a picture with humans around seems more alive than a deserted location which gives rise to thoughts of the lonely unknowns and so on?

Since Mandrake mentioned my 'strange' theories which I already clarified I was never advocating, just occured to me that since U are here, U cannot go back and shoot 'natural' pictures in Ireland and we must all be grateful for that. rollf.gif
