I prefer his sad songs over the happy numbers...PLZ listen to this song carefully, u can feel the struggle+pain rafi saab faced in his early part of his career.

I am back in Heaven where i belong. tongue1.gif Where Rafi Sa'ab is, i'll be there too ! wub.gif angel.gif

QUOTE(Harold @ Jul 8 2006, 12:38 AM) *

"Ji Karta Hai Jeete Ji Main Yunhi Gata Jaon"

This is the antara of "Main Gaon Tum Sojao"

I've been listening to this song for years, and it has always been special for me, maybe because I'm born in 1968 (like the movie) and probably heard this lullaby very often when i was in my cradle glare.gif

But yesterday, while watching "Brahmachari", something happened to me while I was listenening to it.

When the song reached the 3rd antara "Ji Karta Hai Jeete Ji Main Yunhi Gata Jaon", I bursted out in tears. I missed Rafi-saab so much at that moment. I miss him every moment of my life, but the intensity was immense at that moment. It felt like the words "Ji Karta Hai Jeete Ji Main Yunhi Gata Jaon" touched my whole being and I was struck by them.

What a great and lovable man he indeed was. And what a great job he did in this film and in this year. As you all know he had all the nominations for FilmFare's "Best Playback SInger Award" that year.

It was this film for which he took the Award.

By the way, also great performance by SJ as well. They are very special MD's in Rafi-saabs career IMHO.

On the topic of lullabies, the one i love best AFTER 'Main Gaaon Tum So Jaao' is - 'Rona Tera Ghadi Ghadi / Mujhe Rula Na De/ So Ja Mere Noore Nazar / Bahut Saza Na De' composed by Chitragupt for the movie - Hamara Adhikar. I have to confess that whenever i listen to it, i go back to being a child again. Who wouldn't, i wonder ?
There's yet another thing and i don't know whether it is true for anyone else, but i prefer Rafi Saab's lullabies over that sung by any female singers'. It's always been that way.

And, Harold Sa'ab take heart, you are not alone. Those lines from the Brahmachari lullaby ( The sad version) affect me much the same way.
I can never forget the very first time i chanced to hear that lullaby ( I was just a school-kid then ) - my throat all choked up and my eyes felt so blurry ( it still does, every single time i hear it !) that i had to turn away to keep my family from seeing me so emotional. ( I don't do that any more !) dry.gif

Two wonderful things happened that day - i discovered the sentimental side to me and most importantly that was the beginning of a passionate involvement into the life and music of Rafi Sa'ab, which i know will end, only when i take my last breath.

Haneef-bhai, thanks for the upload!

Sajdah-ji, I was 175% convinced that there are far more emotional Rafians on HF, thats why I didn't hesitate to share my feelings. Thanks for sharing yours as well.

Bade Bhai-jaan, I thought "Tere Khilona Toota" was 1st solo full song???

I thought the same - but i have an interview of Naushad Saab where he said this was the 1st solo song of Rafi saab under his direction. I have the entire interview on cassette. Unless, he was confused:-) u know with the old age tongue1.gif Regardless, this song was from the late 40's!

I am also 180% convinced that u r not alone laugh.gif tongue1.gif
