A fast-paced song, from one of SJ's films that they did for the Macho Man Dharmendra. By 1970, SJ were facing competition from the likes of L-P, RDB and K-A who were all coming up with great musicals.

Chehra Tera Allah Allah
Film: Tum Haseen Main Jawan
Year: 1970
Lyrics: Hasrat Jaipuri

Prince-Bhai

Brilliant thread, great songs and great trivia!

IMO SJ have composed the best romantic numbers ever sung by Rafi saab, there output in the 60's was awesome.

* Unusual lyricist pairings:

Prem Dhawan - Aman (title song)
Bharat Vyas - Baalak - Bhagwan Ki Dekho Bhool
Indivar - Tum Haseen Main Jawaan - Dil Acha Hai
Gulzar - Seema - Jab Bhi Yeh Dil Udhas Hota Hai

Beshaq Ali bhai beshaq..Indivar saab and Rafi saab's combo was very rare.

Life is music, music is life...

A song that describes Mother India, from one of Shammi Kapoor's final releases of the decade.

Ganga Meri Maa Ka Naam
Film: Tumse Acha Kaun Hai
Year: 1969
Lyrics: Rajinder Krishan

Ali bhai...if I am not wrong this song was written by Hasrat Jaipuri. The song Kis ko pyaar karun was written by Rajinder Krishan if I am not wrong.

Keep it up Ali bhai! Great Trivia!!

Ameen Sayani Presents Shankar Jaikishan

I had played this on HF Radio, now here it is for you all, an excellent 34 minute program where you get to hear the voices of Shankar talking and Jaikishan singing a ghazal.

If you listen closely to the the Jaikishan ghazal, you will notice that the tune is similar to the tune of Mukesh's classic from Anita Gore Gore Chand Se Mukh Par.

The show also features Rafi saab, Lata ji and others, as well as an interview with Pallavi Jaikishan (wife of Jaikishan).

Enjoy ! smile1.gif

A catchy song with a nice tune from one of Prasad Productions' Rajendra Kumar films, Rafi saab as usual is great.

SJ made a variety of fantastic duets for our King and Queen of playback singing. Set at a pacy rhythm, Rafi saab and Lata ji infuse life into the song.

When you have many good songs in an album, there is a chance that other nice songs will be relegated to the background. This is the case with the following track, where Rafi saab again proves he could sing any type of song.

SJ had the nation rocking to their other tunes such as An Evening In Paris, Akele Akele Kahan Ja Rahe Ho, Raat Ke Humsafar, Aasmaan Se Aaya Farishta, Deewane Ka Naam To Pucho, and Mera Dil Hai Tera.

A tailor-made Shammi Kapoor number. SJ only used western instruments in this Shakti Samantha produced film.

Excellent presentation. Wonderful effort, digging out so much interesting trivia on SJ and combining it with superb uploads.

Shammi Kapoor films always had fun-filled teasing and romantic gems. The following is a nice melody that only Rafi saab could sing. SJ had a special composing style reserved for Shammi Kapoor as they did for other actors, and the songs of the SJ-Rafi-SK combination always stood out.

Haseen Ho Tum
Film: Budtameez
Year: 1966
Lyrics: Shailendra

Next we have Shankar composing solo for this Dharmendra film a few years after the death of Jaikishan. The popular belief is that Saira Banu sang this song with Rafi saab, however this is not true as the voice of Saira Banu in this song is Ranu Mukherjee, the daughter of Hemant Kumar. Ranu's voice matched Saira perfectly on screen.

Sone Ke Gehne
Film: Resham Ki Dori
Year: 1974
Lyrics: Indivar
