Trivia:

* Director Prayag Raaj yelled Yahoo in Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee (Junglee)

* It is Shankar's voice saying Ayaya Sukoo Sukoo in Ayaya Karoon Main Kya Sukoo Sukoo (Junglee)

* SJ utilized Rafi saab for all three Kapoor brothers: Raj Kapoor (Ek Dil Sau Afsane & Mera Naam Joker), Shammi Kapoor & Shashi Kapoor.

* Subhash Ghai lip-synched Rafi saab's Babul Kaun Ghadi (Umang)

* Yaad Na Jaaye (Dil Ek Mandir) was derived from a spanish song Besame Mucho. Raju Bharatan also mentioned the song was based on Raag Kirvani.

* The famous western song Margarita was the inspiration for Kaun Hai Jo Sapnon Mein Aaya (Jhuk Gaya Aasman).

* Rafi saab sang two non-film English songs for SJ. One to the tune of Baharon Phool Barsao, the second to Hum Kaale Hai To

* From about 174 Hindi films of SJ, Rafi saab sang in 123 of them.

* Rafi saab's second highest total tally and second highest duets with Lata were by SJ. (Highest for both with Laxmikant-Pyarelal)

* First song in Barsaat (1949), last released song in Inteqaam Ki Aag & Kaanch Ki Deewar (1986)

* Two films had Rafi saab in all songs (solos & duets) - Dil Tera Diwana and Brahmachari

Sharmila Tagore - An Evening in Paris
Sadhna - Budtameez

* Rafi saab also sang a Hindi song in an English language film of SJ - Bombay Talkies

* Most unusual film with SJ songs - Film Hi Film which contained clips of songs of unreleased films.
SJ songs were from 1968's aborted Sajan Ki Galiyaan, which starred Dev Anand, Sadhna & Zahira.

Prem Dhawan - Aman (title song)
Bharat Vyas - Baalak - Bhagwan Ki Dekho Bhool
Indivar - Tum Haseen Main Jawaan - Dil Acha Hai

Next is a beautiful song from a Raj Kapoor film that consisted of the first two Rafi/Asha duets composed by SJ. Throughout the next two decades SJ would compose many a memorable duets by the two legendary artists. Beautiful singing by Rafi saab and well supported by Asha ji. Originally the film was to contain no songs, but later songs were added and SJ came up with an excellent musical score.

Tumhare Hain Tumse Daya Maangte Hain
Film: Boot Polish
Year: 1953
Lyrics: Shailendra

One of the many great songs from this super-hit album. This was the third film that Dev Anand did with SJ after Patita and Love Marriage.

Bin Dekhe Aur Bin Pehchane
Film: Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai
Year: 1961
Lyrics: Shailendra

Next is a beautiful song, one of my absolute favourites from a film that starred Sunil Dutt, Asha Parekh and Mumtaz. The lyrics are amazing and the tune and singing by Rafi saab is excellent. I have come across two stanza versions of this song in many compilations. This CD rip is the full version of this song. The extra stanza is:

Zindagani Mein Kayi Rang Ke Mora The Hain
Tu Salamat Rahe Shaayir Ki Dua Kehti Hai
Chand Ghat Tha Hai Ghate, Husn Tera Bartha Rahe
Main Rahun Ya Na Rahun Meri Wafa Kehti Hai

Mere Mehboob Tere Dam Se
Film: Bhai Bhai
Lyrics: Hasrat Jaipuri
Year: 1970

A very emotional song sung movingly by Rafi saab from this 1969 Shammi Kapoor and Sadhna starrer. In a radio interview Rajinder Krishan recalled his experiences with the duo and said was very impressed by how much importance orchestration had in the songs of SJ. He did a total of 16 films with SJ.

Mere Gunaah Maaf Kar
