QUOTE(Talaikya @ Sep 28 2005, 11:43 PM) *
Been wanting to say this -
I lived in Gujarat, which is less conservative. Though not ill treated a la an animal, I never felt free. There were always societal pressures to fit a mould, whether one wanted to or not, despite the implicit support of the spouse. A woman could never grow as an individual, because she'd have to accomodate her life to that of a man. How about making room for both - man & woman - as a unit? This state of affairs isn't changing soon. I agree it's not even close to being treated like a slave or being burnt alive when not useful anymore, but it does suck being a woman, even a fortunate one if your spirit cannot live let alone prosper.

right ?

oops !! am getting mixed up between different threads - this is not the 'identify the song' thread is it ? smile.gif

You've grown a bit now na? How much do you weigh? laugh.gif

A bit more seriously, I think studies and surveys indicate that women/girls in Gujarat are more 'liberated/emancipated' than in any other state in India. Though I'm not sure how credible those surveys are, their consistentcy does indicate a trend...

Really?? Maybe things are different for today's youth, I don't really know, have lost touch with reality back home. I consider myself liberated and emancipated but I have given up on ever being understood by my family let alone my in-laws, I wear a mask with most people, it's easier smile1.gif Ahhhh now I see why you wore one in that picture!!! rollf.gif

Hey Nimii !

Do you have a good quality version of 'Teri talaash mein, pichle kai janam' ?

Sri

The full words are :
Kho diye hain sanam, teri talaash mein, pichle kayi janam.... aa ja re, aa ja re, aa ja
from the film 'Teri talaash mein'
music of Sapan Jagmohan
lyrics of Naqsh Lyalpuri

Sri

Yes, things are indeed changing, I guess. But the problem is caused by oldies like me. We know what the youth think and do, and due to an ingrained guilt about it, don't want our young to think/do the same. Gotta get rid of that guilt, but people as a whole will change in many decades, not years... sad1.gif

You call this casual banter??? I was baring all!!! tongue.gif tongue.gif

I thought you didn't mind us chatting while doing the music thing. Sorry!! Will hold my tongue.

Sriiiiii ji.... that was what I needed!! Everyone titles songs differently, hence I have to search through my unorganised music very creatively. Found your song - coming up in a bit.... SB and Priya and Nimii need not bother themselves to re-do this one... bandi (as in slave) haazir hoti hain in a few mins (watch this space).

P.S. Too little too late sad1.gif But we've all learnt a lesson haven't we?? look.gif
