Listening to the real RD album. I like the music for some of the songs a lot. Like Cha cha cha. I did not care for muttukudi...
Feel both proud and sad when I hear the songs. She still has the same spirit--she has an intimacy when singing that few singers can achieve barring Guru and Rafisaab--I mean that talking while singing with Ur additional expressions--kinda speaking to the listeners and the co-singer. She has lost none of that. The music is enjoyable but the voice no longer keeps pace with the energy of the lady. When U hear karle pyaar and compare it to the vocal acrobatics of the original it gives a kind of pang of sorrow.
But view the album dispassionately and pretend U do not know the originals and it is lovely fare compared to the nonsense dished out daily as music.

But must say Sudesh Bhosle is really disappointing. While Asha sounds natural in her expressions he seems like a nautank. Or maybe it is as I said--Asha has lost none of that part of her singing while SB is doing what other singers did and so probably sounds out of place. He sounds lifeless compared to Asha.

The album, I am liking it more and more. I really like the music. In some cases it is much more appealing than the original 70s background music.

It is strange. When I got the album it was more out of loyalty to Asha. And the wish to listen to anything she has ever sung. Did not expect to seriously enjoy it. Shocked myself!!!!

Also think I was too harsh on SB. In the duets with Asha he seems to be singing way below his normal pitch and maybe that is why he sounded unnatural and not in his element to me.

EEEEK no comparison. ASha is still an awesome singer though her voice may not be keeping pace with her. HR is nothing to right home abt.
