Jab tak koi aur try nahi karta tab tak try karne mein kya harz hai? wink2.gif

Vivek, how about:

ROUND[(7+3) * (7/3)]

wink2.gif

Nahin Nahin aap yeh mathematical functions nahin use kar sakte tongue.gif

Mandrake, aap to jaadugar hai. You have come close smile1.gif. I can give one more hint, remove "Round" aur numbers aur operators ko thoda aage peeche kijiye. Fractions is the way to go... thumbs-up.gif

Cheers,

Ok, perhaps the wrong place to ask the most obvious riddle wink2.gif

Water freezes at zero degree celsius. So what happens to the aquatic life?

I have not studied Bio after school so I am just guessing that entire water body cannot freeze. Water just freezes upto a certain depth guess.

well ab the aquatic life.. yes water does freez uptill certain depth only.... and the temperature underneath is maintained as ice act as sheath and prevents the temp loss...........

How about 7*(3+3/7)?

Aur ek question. What is the sum of all numbers from 1 to 1000?

Goes without saying that you cannot use any calculating device tongue.gif. Also don't use the series summation formula.

Explain your answer.

well you have put a simple AP there Vivek.. and is Ap ka formula is (n(t1 + tn))/2
where n = number of terms
t1 = first term
tn = nth term .. korrect????
and the sum here is - 500500

Though the answer is correct, and there are number of ways to solve this, I want a simple logic and no series or AP.

There is a pattern that can be followed to get the sum even if you are not aware of any formula and that is what I am looking for...

Pretty simple. Just think over it. Aim here is to simplify Maths smile1.gif

mazaak karte ho vivek.. maths and simple both cannot be used in the same sentence. and thoda hint do u fu wish me to think in a particular direction : )

othersie what about this..

1-10 - sum 55
1-100 - sum - 5050
1-1000 - 500500
1-10000 - 50005000
.. is that the pattern you are talking about???

hmm shivani the other way can be...
if u have forgotten AP formula then proceed this way..
1+999 = 1000
2+998 = 1000
3+997 = 1000
.
.
.
.
499+501= 1000

total of 500 pairs.. only remains is 500, so add it and we get 500*1000+500 = 500,500
oh i forogot to welcome u.. tumahre bina ye hread soona pada tha.smile1.gif aap aaye bahar aayi

Yes this is exactly the pattern I was hinting at smile1.gif.

And see, isn't Maths simple? Its all about patterns wink2.gif. Apply Divyanjali's steps to all the above series you mentioned and you will get the result...

I did apply.. but thoda different.. in steps of 11 : )
1+10 - 11
2+9 - 11
so from 1-10 there are 5 11's. .. and so on..
and would admit I had help understanding this from hubby dear.. it is not at all simple for me : ).

And just see how you have interpreted the AP formula you mentioned in this pattern smile1.gif
