Yeah I also like Khurshid alot,

Besides her songs from Tansen and Bhakt Surdas, I like "bulbul aa to bhi ga" from Babar, "itna bhi na woh samjha kai gaye", "ambwa pai koyal boley", "badaria baras gayi us paar" (all from Moorti) and "Jala patang" from Mumtaz Mahal.

And the songs from Pardesi - Pehle Jo Mohabbat Se Inkar Kiya Hota and Mori Atariya Hai Sooni; and from Shadi - Bhigoyi Mori Sari Re Dekho Bheege Na Choli and Aye Dil Kahan Le Jaaoon. She had some of her best numbers under the baton of Khemchand Prakash.

To me her greatest song was/is from 1941 BeTi,
composed by Gyan Dutt:

ghir ghir ban me.n ghor ghaTaa chhaii
o~ mohe yaad terii aayii

Yes the Beti song too is an exquisite one. Actually I should say that her best works were under Ranjit Movietone where both Khemchand Prakash and Gyan Dutt were the principle composers. Later Bulo C.Rani, another stalwart of Ranjit Movietone, too composed that immortal melody in Khurshid's voice (Mukesh and Hameeda were there too), Badariya Baras Gayi Us Paar. Although not a Khurshid solo, personally I rank this song among her best.

Hello Mahesh,
Sorry for another response. This is the first time I am watching Geeta Nizami. She isn't pretty, but looks bubbly and adorable tongue1.gif One thing which caught my attention is her hairstyle which is quite unique wink2.gif

Yes she did not appear to be from the top most lot of that era. Speaks with heavy punjabi accent in this movie. Will upload a video song from the same era with one of the top most heroines of that time....wait for some hours. I know you are a fan of that babe. biggrin.gif

ye kitni badi meharbaani hai 'ham kaise bataaen'.
us tamaam jaddo jehd kaa, jo aap ne is naacheez ke kehne
par is video ko haasil karne ke liye ki, us kaa bhi buhat
shukariya. main ne Panna 1945 men dekhi thi aur ab hai
2006 !
'sab haal bataa denge' is considered as second part of
'jo ham pe guzarti hai'.
Geeta N was a second grade actress. She was said to be
more interested in non-film activities. She migrated
to PK but could not get any work here. However Panna
was her successful movie. Amir Ali, a close relative
of Master Ghulam Haider, also provided the male voice in
Panna's songs. He died of an accident soon after the
release of Panna.
