It is interesting to note that most major actresses had Shamshad Begum's voice as their playback in their debut movies. Nargis in Taqdeer (O janey waley aaja), Vyjantimala in Bahar (duniya ka maza lai lo), Waheeda Rehman in CID (kahin pai nighahein), Padmini in Mr Sampat (achey din aa rahey hain) and many others  Ummer. |

Just discovered that the late Kannada veteran Raj Kumar's debut film was opposite Pandharibai! Interesting observation about Shamshad Begum singing debut songs for several new heroines. In fact listening to Duniya Ka Maza Le Lo was a strange feeling, conditioned as I am to Lata (generally) singing for Vyjayanthimala!! |
