Hi Kistin Bhai,

I'm glad I can start returning the favour. This is also a favourite of mine. One reason being that the actress Nutan (who the song is filmed on) is my favourite actress.

As far as being easily available I found it to be rare and it took me a long time before I found it on CD. I have uploaded @ 96kbps but can upload at a higher bitrate if you would like.

Enjoy!
Jamal

Thanks a lot for this song Jamal Bhai,
Yes, if possible, can you please upload it at a higher bitrate?

Thanks again bow.gif

Kistin

Sri ji and Kistin Bhai,

I have replaced the track I uploaded previously with the 128kbps version. If you need higher than this I can do. My broadband connection is quite fast so I can upload big files.

Thanks,
Jamal

Just came across this rare Johny Walker type of song by Rafi in a CD of the film 24 Ghante (1958). The movie starred Premnath, Shakeela, KNSingh etc.

Nice lively number. Music composed by Bipin-Babul
With interesting lyrics by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan :

Ek dil hamaare paas hai, neelaam karega
phir apne ghar mein baith ke, aaraam karega
!!

Enjoy ! gift.gif

myawan - i'm glad you enjoyed the song - i'm always astonished how Rafi can sing these kind of songs - which are so different from his own personality !! He's truly a fantastic actor.

One of my favourite songs for many many years has been this wonderful Shankar jaikishan number which Rafi sang for the film Zindagi (1964). His voice is just simply superb and this must be one of his best 'matches' for Rajendra Kumar's voice. Rafi was such a great actor ... observe how he modulates his voice to match Rajendra Kumar on screen.

I still remember the day, as a young boy, when I went with my family to see this movie at the Basusree theatre in Calcutta ... and this song was buzzing in my head for several weeks after that !

Usually good Shankar Jaikishan songs become popular ...especially if tagged to a good cast... but this song has always astonished me by its elusiveness. A Rajendra Kumar -Vyjayantimala movie, a fabulous and typically 'popular'-type of tune from SJ, Rafi's voice and a big banner Gemini release with Ramanand Sagar as the Producer/Director ... and yet this song has managed to keep such a low profile for so many years !! Really astonishing.

Anyway, here's this song for you to enjoy. I have retained some of the initial music from the DVD (simply because it sounded good) ... so you will hear Vyjyantimala speaking to the hero's dog (Honey) who has come to take her to the hero .. waiting at a nearby park. Then as soon as she reaches the park .... the famous, great strings of Shankar Jaikishan fill the air .... and then the great voice - so smooth, so well modulated - takes over for the rest of the time to transport you into heaven. What chance does any girl have if she really were to hear such a voice singing to her, in person !

Enjoy ! gift.gif

Sri

P.S. Why are my mails becoming so loooooong nowadays ? doh.gif if anyone is reading this stuff ( both here and in the Lata thread of mine ) please do respond. Otherwise, I may feel that I am talking to myself !! wink2.gif

I am reading and enjoying your reminiscences here and at Lata ji's thread. I do have many of what you have uploaded, and I wish I had the liesure to listen to them with your narrations, but ... in some time.

Sri bhai it is of course a great song. Why do you say it was a sort of low profile song....I think it was as popular as Hamne Jafa na sikhi unko wafa na aayi. blab.gif

I have seen this movie at least 10 times and heard the song 1000 times laugh.gif
A big mistake committed by the lyricist in this song laugh.gif Can you guess?

Here is the answer
Listen to these lines of different paras carefully

O saanwli haseena dil tuney mera chhina
and
Gorey badan pe kala aanchal aur rung le aaya hai kurbaan jaaoon

Now you will have to admit that I have heard this song at least 1000 times laugh.gif

Hi Sri Ji,

Sorry for the late reply - I hadn't visited this forum for a while. This track from an audio CD called 'The Unforgettable Nutan' released by EMI.

mahesh

i feel this song is much less popularly known compared to many other SJ songs of that period ( and of similar background ). Do you know this song is not available on hamaracd.com ? neither is hamne jafa na seekhi, for that matter !! maybe i'm wrong .. but this song is either not featured or rarely featured on saregama audio CDs.

Many hindi film songs suffer a worse fate, i know ....but i found it strange to see this happening to an SJ song of this background

Glad to know you like it so much too ... makes two of us

Attached File(s)
  Pehle_mile_the_sapnon_mein_Rafi_Zindai_1964_ShankarJaikishan_HasratJaipuri.zip ( 4.67mb ) Number of downloads: 29

You are not talking to youself Sri Bhai !
Thank you very much for this nice song. Both music and Rafi are again magical.
From now on, I'll keep on your Lata thread too.

By the way, I have a simple request. Would you please put the song info in the song file same as you have put to rar file? Because when I extract AND DELETE rar, I see no info in the extracted song! (I usualy extract the rar files as batch and delete them immediately when finished.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much for you very valuable feedback !! This point never struck me since I have never unzipped one of my own files.

of course i will add the details in the original file from now onwards - the whole point of adding the details from my side is defeated if it is not present in the original file

thanks once again to you for pointing this out ...and to others who have been providing such feedback from time to time on various points
