Came across this lovely Rafi solo from the film 'Main bhi ladki hoon' 1964. This AVM production was a hindi remake of the tamil version 'Naanum oru penn' which was released an year earlier. The Hindi film has music of Chitragupt and lyrics of Rajinder Krishan. Good sound recording.
Hero teasing heroine type of song. Sounds to me as if Rafi really enjoyed singing this song !! The song is picturised on Rajan and Pushpalatha - two south indian actors - who play second fiddle to Dharmendra and Meena Kumari. Apparently, these two actors got married, in real life, after this stint together. There's an Asha solo too of the same song which I will upload later in another thread. Aaye the huzoor bade tan ke, zulfen sanwaare ban than ke (don't miss the rather unique beginning !!) Enjoy ! I have been listening to this lovely song of Rafi, a typical KHAYYAM composition. Part of the verse has shades of Kabhi Kabhi..which,of course, came much later. Thought I would share it with all of you

I am rushing to upload this really rare and wonderful duet of Rafi with Asha - from the soundtrack of the film JAALI NOTE (1960) which I have just got my hands on. I had to do some minor reconstructive surgery on the track (there were some skips in the interlude music) to make it perfect - the track itself has pretty good sound quality. I was extremely glad to hear it and I wanted all Rafi-Asha-OPN fans to have this rare song. So here's :
Gustakh nazar chehre se hata picturised on Helen and Dev Anand, it's a cute, lively song with a nice, typical OPN rhythm ! Enjoy ! Sri P.S. I have not mentioned the name of the lyricist because there are conflicting bits of info (Anjaan, Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, Majrooh etc.) floating around...and the film titles, which were strangely brief, did not mention the name of the lyricist !! One more lively number from JAALI NOTE (1960) - solo by Rafi - good sound quality
Chhuri ban kaanta ban o my son sab kuch ban kisika chamcha mat ban This song was picturised on Omprakash...and the audience was a bunch of restaurant staff - hence the reference to chhuri (knife), kaanta (fork) in the context of chamcha !! Speaking to them in their own language !! The song ended rather abruptly in the film - so I had to make surgical additions to provide a smooth ending. Enjoy !! Returning to the lovely music of O P Nayyar's JAALI NOTE (1960), here is a Rafi-Asha duet :
Rafi : Dil hai aapka huzoor, leejiye na leejiye itna husn par guroor tauba tauba keejiye Asha : Sheesha dekhiye huzoor, dil na humko deejiye apni shakal dekhkar tauba tauba keejiye I had to do some surgery on the music interludes to remove skips and make it perfect... but there is still is one skip at the end of the first verse (Rafi's part) which could not be salvaged. Apart from this one skip - this is a good quality recording and a lovely song. Enjoy ! From the film Pooja ke phool (1964), here is a lively duet: Ab do dilon ki mushkil aasaan ho gayi hai The track is a DVD rip - with good sound quality. Notice the beat variations - one for the starting mukhda and two within the antara (verse) - also notice the interlude strings and mandolin music for some typically Madan Mohan touches Enjoy !
