Dharamvir saheb
I can think of three other songs that have a similar tune. First one is from 'Lachhi' 'Meri lagdi kisse na dekhi te tutdi noon jag jannda' sung by Shamshad Begum.Second one is from 'Chhai' 'Dil tut gaye milan ton pehlan te duniyan da kee giya eh' It is a duet but I am not sure about singer names.Third one is from Hindi/Urdu movie 'Dost'.Dil deke bahut pachhtaye saara jag veree ho gaya'sung by Madhubala Zaveri. The last one is a mixed Hindi/Punjabi song. I am not sure about Chhai's music director but Lachhi and Dost had music by Hans Raj Behl. I just saw your reply to my last query. Are there two Heer Sayal movies? one Indian and one Pakistani? The one I remember seeing in India around 1960 had Indian artist names. Also in your post today you mention Sudha(Malhotra?) and Shaminder as singers for Heer Sayal song 'ari we ari'. I think these two are Indian singers. Can you clear my confusion? But thanks again for these rare gems. Harjinder

Harjinder Ji,

You must be more correct , as my information is doubtful so I have put queries against word Pak.
I Think it must be Indian Heer Sayal, as you have pointed.

Please also clear my one more doubt, In my record ,,Ghook Meri Kismat so Gai is from Gule Bakawali year 1939. Is this information correct?

Hi
Happy Thanksgiving to all North Amercans and eveyone else!
I am really surprised by your caution, about sticking to all the details, issued to Dharamvir saheb.Kya aap ne aam khaane hai ya ped gin-ne hain? Punjabi rare songs are very hard to get. Can't you just overlook your rules sometimes so that people like me can enjoy these hard to find songs from the 40;s and 50's. Dharamvir saheb has a big selection of these rare songs and if you and others want this website to flourish then he should continue to make his contributions unhindered.Harjinder

I have just now checked a Pakistani website Mazhar.dk? (going by my fading memory,I hope I wrote it correctly.) It lists Gul Bakawali as released in 1939.Again thanks for this second trilogy of similar sounding songs.Harjinder

some rare songs with similarity:

song:-Ghook Meri Kismat So Gai
Singer-Shamshad Begum
Film-Gule Bakawali(39?????????)
Bit:96kbps
duration 3:21
size:2:31

I don’t think this is the ‘Gul-e-Bakawali’ that was made in 1939 (starring Baby Noor Jehan). Shamshad Ji’s style of singing and voice is very matured in this song. We can compare her voice from ‘Yamla Jat’ (1940) song ‘Kankaan diyaan faslaan pakiyaan ne’, this song was uploaded by Dharamveer ji a long time ago in this thread.

The song Ghook Meri Kismat So Gai is surely from
‘Gul-e-Bakawali’ that was made in 1939 and is without
a doubt in the voice of Shamshad Begum. Baby NJ was
just there to sing a couple of songs. The heroine was
Hemlata and hero Salim Raza.. not the singer but the actor.
In its time this song was as popular as NJ's Shaalaa
JavaaniyaaN MaaneN.
