Nayak was a political action thriller starring Kapoor, Rani Mukerji and Amrish Puri. The film was a remake of S Shankar's successful Tamil film Mudhalvan. Actor Anil Kapoor says that Nayak Returns will have a completely fresh subject and it won't be a sequel.
