Maybe even some long playing 78 RPM survives?

what do you mean here ? long playing 78 rpm ???

of course there are 78 rpm records which play longer than the usual ones ...but they were generally restricted to classical music which needed more time. Film songs were only made in the usual 78 rpm size...and were not called long-playing if the song was a little longer than usual !!! smile.gif

U do have record versions where the songs were longer than the film ones or by a diff singer than the film version. My collector is always talking abt such long playing ones.

Me not of Ur generation na, guys. U guys dealt with all this firsthand.

During recordings the original songs are of longer periods than what we hear. These songs are edited and shrunk to suit the recording media. This is precisely the reason why we find different versions on different records/casettes/cds and sometimes on re-issued versions also.

Also read in SCREEN online's Music section that the songs were recorded twice, once for the movie and a second time for the record, the latter done at the music publishing company's studio.

But it's odd that even in the DVD, the "Maine Dekha Hai" duet missed that one stanza. Often they delete entire songs, but surely not a stanza!

It must have been censored. The lyrics are suggestive. Good women do not think such things na. laugh.gif

Well, she's only saying that she's ashamed of the jumbled state of her mind. Can you blame her? I'd be ashamed too, if my mind was similarly disorganized. ohmy.gif

An unpoetic soul. sigh.gif

She says she feels thoughts she never imagined she would feel and is as shy to face them herself as to face him, the man she loves. The song captures the excitement of the first passion of love, the hesitation, the boldness that amazes one's own self, the delight of finding oneself in another.
