I see Mandrakeji's mixed-up thread has been removed?
Koi baat nahi--I will ul tu jahan mile mujhe here. This thread was anyway in danger of becoming an 'aapki MS one' abuse.gif

So here is another romantic Asha classic from the RDB camp.
Tu jahan mile mujhe, wahi mere donon jahan....

No problems in messing/mixing up! We all do. At the risk of spoiling my 'consummate Asha fan' reputation lemme admit that as a kid I heard aa lautke aaja mere meet and thot it was Asha!!!! blab.gif And carried that memory till adulthood and then found the song a few years back and wondered why I ever assumed so!!!
My file of tu jahan mile mujhe had '2' marked on it--did not find a '1'. To my knowledge there is only one part of this song right?

Thanx for being so understanding sunglasses2.gif . I heard the song now and it appears absolutely fine to me. I do not think there is another part to this song. And if there is, this is the most commonly heard one rolleyes.gif

Would love to comment on this frank admission, but if you are willing
to let your izzat hang out like this, I shall be a gentleman and refrain
from saying any more. Of course what some others like your arch-nemesis
Unni would do is a totally different story.

Actually, I think there are 3 versions. There is certainly another version of
this song by Nitin Mukesh (probably his first song in Hindi films, and a fairly
bad rendition which was cut from the film). But I also recall a sad version
of this song by Asha. Short verse if memory serves me well. I had seen
the film years back and if it was in the film, I have it on tape somewhere.
Do NOT ask me to find it now. angry2.gif

For all our kidding which is great fun and in the best spirit of friendship, Unni is the most perfect gentleman on the forum as everyone knows. Which is why he bears the brunt of my (ill?) humour.

I was not referring to Nitin Mukesh. I got the song from Nimii on a cd she gifted me with various Asha tracks from her collection. The file was marked 2 but there was no 1. I know the Parinda song has 4 versions by Asha but never heard another version of this one. If U say there is a sad snippet then that must be it.

Glad this subject cropped up. For it gives ample scope for discussion.

To paraphrase what dear 'rom' said so aptly in an old post, "Show me a man who does not have a preference or a prejudice".

Sure, we all have our personal preferences. For a variety of reasons not worth delving into.

But personally, I find it gratifying when an avowed fan of an artiste requests songs of the supposed rival.

For HFM fans like me, with admiration and appreciation of artistes and music-forms spanning a broad spectrum, HF provides a unique forum. Bet, very few members d/l as many track as I do, from all the music forums. Fortunately, I have a high-speed connection. My heart goes out to those of our members who share the same kind of broad interest and are constrained by technical limitations. Hence my enthusiasm to oblige requests.

It is one thing to kid someone about being a 'consummate fan' of one artise. It's purely in good-natured fun. So long as I don't deride the artiste. Which I would not, for I am also a fan!

Never would I trade the humourous banter in an open forum with the disagreements I've had in private with friends who share my own preferences!

If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Here's a lovely Marathi duet of Asha and Sudhir Phadke.

Dunno if there is any demand for Asha's natyasangeet out here--got a few pieces the other day and was wondering if anyone would like them.

Priya ji, with due respect, may I point out something which you are allowed to miss?

I have recently started a Sudhir Phadke thread in the Marathi section. I have also u/l ed a song to get the thread going.

I think the song you have uploaded here would be most appropriate on that thread.

Would you get it moved there? I feel it would be more noticed there. rolleyes.gif

GRRRR certainly not--meri purani shikayat hai ki saare duets doosre forums mein ul hote hain. An Asha song is an Asha song and it stays here unless someone else moves it. abuse.gif
