(Shakeel) Mere Mehboob (1963)

There were two big reasons that made this movie such a big winner. First it was Sadhana's ravishingly beautiful but charmingly disarming simple looks that made millions fall in love with her. The second and an equally important reason was Naushadji's unforgettable score. Of course it was no "Baiju Bawra", but how many times one will exceed in their lifetime such a magnificent score. Each song from the film became a major hit with both versions of the title song taking the crown.

(Anand Bakshi) Aaye Din Bahaar Ke (1966)

This is a beautiful album from LP & Bakshi Saab. It boasts outstanding songs that were a rage when the film was originally released. Of all the songs, Lata’s “Suno Sajna” is a classic to remember for ages to come. I am not sure how accurate this information is but I read somewhere that for this song Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia provided flute, Ustad Allah Rakha tabla, and Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma santoor. The DVD titles did not provide any of these details. Therefore it is difficult to authenticate the accuracy of this information. The other favorite song of mine from this album is Asha’s solo “Khat Likh De”. I am uploading these and other songs from this melodious album in two back-to-back posts.
