Film: Johnny Walker (1957)
*ring: Johnny Walker, Shyama, Raj Mehra, Tony Walker
Music: O P Nayyar
Lyrics: Hasrat Jaipuri

This was one of those prohibition films which told you about the evils of
drinking. And it did not just tell you, it hit you on the head with a huge
sledgehammer while screaming loudly smile1.gif
The end is predictable where the man (Johnny Walker) realizes the error
his ways only when his girlfriend (Shyama) PRETENDS to be drunk herself
to prove her point. Oh boy how profound and imaginative. tongue.gif

Anyway, the film is elevated from the depths of stupidity by a great
soundtrack by Nayyar. Kya behtareen gaane banaaye. Both Asha/Geeta
duets rank among the best of that pair. But particularly superb is Asha's
inital humming/la la la in "ThanDi ThanDi hawa". Wow !!!!

All these songs have been uploaded earlier on this forum, but I think the
quality of the version I am uploading is better. The sound is crisper although
this also went the old-fashioned route of VCR to Cassette to CD to mp3.
Enjoy the music.

Track 1:
Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey - MuNh se mat laga cheez hai buri
There is a long musical piece in the end that I had unfortunately not
recorded. IMO, it is not a great piece, but it is still part of the song
and I should have recorded it.

Thanks again, SB. clap1.gif

There had been requests earlier for songs from this movie. I'd imagine it is a rare album.

Sincerely appreciated. bow.gif

Indeed... the sound is really good. Who needs CDQ?? This is what I call eminently CDable... Thank you. bow.gif

Now this is truly high praise from the keeper of the keys to CDQ.

And to all of you who thanked me for these songs, you are welcome.

they are average songs.
Mind you I like OP better than any other music director.
I have liked him since i was about 18 years old(that is 28 years ago...)
I was not really impressed by these....just nice to have because they are rare...

Thanks for the efforts though.

This is certainly not among his best albums, but the 2 Asha/Geeta duets
rank very high for me. And the prospect of getting a rare album is
always fun for a person like me who likes to collect music.
