Dear Waheed bhai,

We kindly request you to share the songs which every one has been looking for (and not the ones which are already shared on HF sometime or other). Here is a list of requests for 50 songs of Geeta ji from 1946 to 1949. It is the period for which it is most difficult to get these rare songs from.

There are a couple of songs in this list that really caught my ear.
One is the Bhojpuri song from "Aayel basant bahaar" with music by Hemant Kumar. I liked the
orchestration at the beginning of the song - interesting instruments considering that it is a very
folksy song - they seemed very western and blended very nicely into the main song. I was
reminded of Salil Chowdhury as I listened to the song. Hemant's style could not always be pinned
down and this is one of those cases. Both Geeta and Manna Dey are very nice.

The other song that I liked was a surprise to even me
Normally, neither Husnlal-Bhagatram's style of compositions nor Geeta in the 40s are
the kind of music I listen to. But this particular song from "Amar kahaani" is a lovely
composition and wonderfully sung by Geeta.
I found a clear recording of this song - both parts in my collection. I possibly got it from
HF a while back. Either way, I wanted to thank Mahesh for reminding me of this song
again and here is the other recording that I have. Both versions of the song are back-to-back
in one file.

As mahesh ji stated above, the Geet Kosh doesn't mention the name of the lyricists for any song of the movie.
Infact, it doesn't mention which singer sang each song individually.
It just gives list of playback singers at the end.
We don't know if Geeta ji sang any other song for the movie too for this reason.
(The movie has six songs in all. Mahendra Kapoor, Suman Kalyanpur, Asha Bhosle, Jaani Babu and Usha Mangeshkar are other attributed singers for the movie).

This song must be shown to all those who claim her voice had deteriorated in the 1960s. (This is a 1965 song! of course, it could have been recorded a bit earlier, but how early could it be). Those "bad voice" songs are few only. She just had some bad days and some good days, which is expected of someone who faced tragedies like her not to mention constrained finances.

Of course, She always gave her best for Bulo C Rani. Coming to think of it, I can't think of a bad song from the duo.
