One more - Ellorum kondaduvom..allahvin peyarai solli.. (philosophical no.)

With Ramdaan just few days away - this song would be appropriate.

Paava Mannippu - 1961 release featuring Shivaji, Gemini Ganeshan, Savithiri, M.R.Radha.
Music: Vishwanathan Ramamoorthy
Lyrics: Kannadasan

Some great numbers from this movie are
Tracks
1. Athaan Ennathaan - P Susheela
2. Ellorum Kondaduvom - TMS (chorus)
3. Kalangalil Aval Vasantham - PBS - Beautiful Solo
4. Paal irukkum - TMS and P.Susheela - Another Sweet duet.
5. Silar Sirupaar Silar Azhuvaar - TMS
6. Vantha Naal Mudhal - TMS

Will uploading in a few minutes.

I think the humming in "Paal irukkum pazham irukkum" is by MSV himself,
not by TMS.

That's correct SB - it is M S Viswanathan indeed who's humming in this song. I had played this song on my Tamil songs program - Nimii knows it too i'm sure - must've slipped her mind.

My favourite two numbers. The duet (TMS and PS) and the solo (PBS).

Paal irukkum..(beautiful duet) - so very romantic and a lovely tune. Thanks the duo composers who gave us excellent melodies of yesteryears. (Please listen to the file clearly - to me it does not sound TMS - sounds more like PBS - the male voice has less to sing, except humming and only towards the end he cosings with PS). I am uploading two version of this song. The version where they sing together is a bit distorted, if someone can share a clear version, would appreciate. Thank you.
(This is the usual version - quality is good) I am uploading the second one! Wish I could get a better version.
MGQ (my good quality)

Kalangalil aval vasantham - an all time beautiful number. Kannadasan lyrics spellbounding, a song where he describes the maiden lover so beautifully.
MGQ - from my collections

No no it didnt slip my mind! I was confused, when I checked the listing from the net! I definitely knew it didnt sound like TMS though all the sites said it is TMS song (no mention of PS! ), and I managed to record a different version from the net. I am u/l it here. Yes like SB and Sriji says it is definitely MSV!

Thanks!

Maybe there is a confusion with the TMS solo "Paalum pazhamum
kaigaLil yendhi, pavazha vaayil punnagai sindhi"???
That is from the film "Paalum pazhamum".

The first track Athaan ennathaan - a soft number by P Susheela.

Lyrics:

aththaan...ennaththaan...avar ennaiththaan...
eppadi solvaenadi
avar kaiyaiththaan kondu mellaththaan vandhu kannaiththaan

Embarrassing truth about this song. WHen I was much younger, I thought this
was the stupidest song because I thought they were asking "kozhambula yenna
thaan". That was the only "thaan" that I knew about. I was too young to
really understand the song. And since I grew up in the north, my Tamil was
not much to write home about. Took me years to understand the beauty of
the song.

I used to have that probs too with hindi songs SB, rather still mess up with the words! he he he!

Paalam Pazhamum .. is a TMS solo, na I know that one for sure. I was confused whether there was a male version of that song, all these unreleased stuff, these days seem to be easily available. As far as I could remember I knew someone hummed but never gave much thought as to who it was. The voice was more like that of PBS. Well on Melody queen site it is clearly mentioned as MSV.

Still searching for a better version of the song with that last bit sung. I could avail only a distorted version. Sigh!

Uploading what I could record.

The next film in this series is yet another feat of musical genius by the duo of
Vishwanathan-Ramamurthy. The film is the 1964 classic comedy "Kaadhalikka
neramillai". The film has 8 songs (not including the title music) and it is hard
to find a bad one among them.
The stars are Muthhuraman, Kanchana, a very very young Ravichandran, Rajeshri,
Nagesh, Sachu and a hilarious Baliah. It is a truly funny comedy and the combo
of Nagesh with Sachu and Baliah is superb.

The film was made in Hindi as "Pyaar kiye ja" starring Kishore Kumar, Kalpana,
Shashi Kapoor, Rajeshri, Mehmood, Mumtaz and Om Prakash. Music was by
Laxmikant-Pyaarelal. IMO, the music in Hindi is not a patch on the original,
except perhaps the Lata solo "Kis ne pukaara mujhe mai aa gayi".

I have sourced all these songs from the DVD of the film. The quality seemed
pretty good and I did not have to clean it up (like I did for "Pudhiya paravai")

The first song for this film is the title music.

Song 2: Yenna paarvai undhan paarvai
Singers: P Susheela, Yesudas

This is a very very young Yesudas in what is among his first films. I believe
his first song in Tamil cinema was the title song in "Bommai" which was released
the same year (1964).

Song 3: MaaDi mele maaDi kaTTi
Singer: P B Srinivas

The coolest song in the film and a very very popular song in its time.
P B Srinivas is probably my most favorite singer in Tamil film music
next to SPB after the 80s. And in this song, PBS shows his versatility
in being able to sing any kind of song.
