A good compilation for RD fans, which is one of the top 10 selling albums of 2004."Pancham Beats": The only compilation in this year's Top 10...and what a brilliantly devised compilation! The commodious and utterly compelling album features the timeless trio of Gulzar, R.D. Burman and Asha Bhosle in conversation on the favourite songs that they created.
And yes, the collection also has the cosy threesome commenting on and listening to the songs that Asha's sister Lata Mangeshkar and Burman's favourite Kishore Kumar sang for Gulzar and R.D. Burman. It all added up to an enchanting journey into the heart and soul of one of the most enduring and endearing musical collaborations in Hindi cinema. |

Hi,
Does anyone have the track 'Yeh Zindagi Kuch Bhi Sahi' sung by The Boss himself from the film Romance? I really like the song and haven't heard it in a very long time. Thanks, Jamal |

Here's Yeh Zindagi Kuch Bhi Sahi from Romance! Panchamda's voice sounds so nice, a far departure from his more famous deep, gravelly gimmick voice. As far as Romance goes, the whole album was excellent! If anyone wants the other tracks, let me know.

I dunno why but I believe that must be sure RD's compositions... but than no where on Talaash CD I see RD's name appearing anywhere ? Any idea ? Any thoughts on this ? Bawra Jay ji, SDB was also good at composing fast numbers and had a good command over western classical music which you can see in many of his compositions in which he has used western orchestration, instruments or rythm in many different ways, "Honton Pe Aisi Baat" from Jewel Thief is an example. It is a known fact that RD did assist SD in many of his compositions dating back from the late 50's and early 60's so he could have had a hand in quite a few SDB western songs. Therefore, another point that comes up is that if RD was his assistant from before, he could have been the ones composing those fast numbers. My observation is that SDB was a complete MD, he could compose anything from pure indian classical to western tunes. If SDB could make an "O Meri Sharmilee" in 1971 (a time when RD was already a full-fledged composer), then he could also have made his own western numbers before, as he has done, without the help of anyone. RD was a master at rythm but SD was no less when it came to composing such numbers. Cheers Prince Ali |

I totally agree with you on that , SD was indeed a good composer. But for the arguement sake, I could not convince myself as always read & heard , that even though greatest of greatest MD have tendency to stick around certain musical instruments only... Hontoon pe aisi baat , O meri Sharmilee are excellent number but still does not have those exactly similiar beat, or intrumental touch like the songs I am referring you here.... What you saying might be possible , it might be SD's tune but fir bhi dil nahi maanta ke this are not RD's compositions.
