Always been a mystery to me.. I have read many a times about it but never really got the convincing info on it.. Please folks join me in finding more info on this smile1.gif

some of the stuff on the net -
1. Bermuda Triangle. A triangular area of the Atlantic whose apices are Bermuda, Miami, and the Lesser Antilles. Reputed to be the site of numerous mysterious disappearances of planes and ships.

2. The Bermuda Triangle is a 1.5 million square mile area of ocean roughly defined by Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and the southern tip of Florida. It is supposedly a paranormal site in which the laws of physics are violated or altered.

It is said that within this area a number of ships and planes have disappeared under highly unusual circumstances. The United States Coast Guard and others disagree with the assessment of paranormal activity, arguing that the number of incidents involving ships and planes is no larger than any other heavily traveled region of the world.

Another area that is classified by many as having the same paranormal effects is the Devil's Triangle, located near Japan.

Wikipedia - gives more info on the history, citation etc..

Nimii, looks like you chose a tough one wink2.gif

There are quite a few questions that are loosely connected to this one.

Firstly, it IS a fact that planes and ships have disappeared in this zone. That they have disappeared in normal, fair weather makes it more surprising.

That they almost never got to send SOS (barring a few cases) makes it surprising.

That the few who managed to send SOS, sent the most incomprehensible ones, makes it even more intriguing. "Nothing is as it should be...", "the compass is going haywire", "cannot see anything" are a few of the recorded sentences from these SOS messages.

I have been a firm believer of one thing: when eyewitnesses say something that appears incomprehensible, it is best to take their words at face value. Because they are trying to describe something that is beyond their normal understanding. I feel we are doing injustice when we try to interpret that to fit something that makes sense to the majority.

When they said "nothing is as it should be", what were they looking at? On a bright clear day, flying over the ocean, they should have been seeing only the water and the sky - maybe some clouds and a stray ship on the waters.

Then what was "nothing is as it should be"???

Why "cannot see anything" on a clear day?

And with the SOS starting an immediate search, why was no trace EVER found of it? No floating debris even days afterwards? Why did submarine searches not show wreckages?

ET theorists say that the Bermuda Triangle is the parking zone of the so called flying saucers. To mark out this zone for every incoming flying saucer, they have set up a force-field in that area which does not sit well with the systems on earth.

That also brings a question to mind: why have the Max. ufo sightings happened in the USA? In fact, that had prompted the US govt to start 'Project Bluebook' which investigated all these 'sightings'.

Interesting to note that nothing ever came of that project.

But so also, nothing came of the investigations into the Bermuda triangle.

Not all the ships, planes that cross this zone, vanish. But there have been recorded instances of ships crossing through this zone, and upon emerging on the other side, have noticed that the entire time in that zone was not recorded anywhere!! Their clocks still showed the same time as when they entered the zone!!!

Is this mystery more in line with the Philadelphia Experiment than UFOs???

Yes Mandrake. I chose this.. coz juz recently my niece (13 year old) was asking me about this and I was kind of mute coz I couldnt give her answer. As you point out not all ships or planes that have crossed this zone have recorded any paranormal activity. Is there any reason for that?

Do you think that these ships/planes, coz they are aware of the position in BT zone they attribute to any kind of coincidental activity to this?

I wonder, if it is not happening all the time, does it have to do anything with the time of occurrence.. for eg.. the time of the year.. whether the moon has any effect?

I want to know the theories that have been propounded regarding this, if any?

Yes Nimii, though there are quite a few theories that I have read over the years, let me guide you to a well compiled article here:

http://hometown.aol.com/Matthew900/paper.html

Though Mr. Matthew has done a fair bit of research and compiled well, there are a few more points that I remember reading elsewhere.

But since this is primarily to deal with a 13 year old's requirements, I believe this article will be far more than just sufficient smile1.gif

These were a bunch of articles explaining that Bermuda triangle might be a well advertised hoax. The missing of ships could be explained by the Methane bubbles. But then those facts are documented at wikipedia as well.. which I did not read fully :|.

Well, well, well....

Since N is busy adminning, she's deputed me to do the honours wink2.gif

But since I cannot match her style (just as none can match her powers), let me try and not let her down too much tongue.gif

So here goes:

Aye Shivani,
tu lagti nahi naani
bambaiyya boli me
tu lagti hai shaani

lagta hai tera sir (maathaa re, masterji nahi)
hai dimaag se bhara hua
lagta hai dimaag mein
hai kafi kuchh bhara hua

ek hi din mein
poochhe itne saare sawaal
agar yoonhi chalta raha toh
kya hoga hamara haal?

Fir bhi achcha hua
jo aap aa gayee yahaan
warna hum to reh jaate
jaise pyaase bin-kuaan

Aur hamesha hi hamein
reh jaati pareshaani
ke kisko keh sakte hum
"Aye Shivani"...
