Hi all

Luckily after many days, I had some free time today, so thought about contributing a song. Firstly, I thought of posting in NJ forum but then felt that I have been making quite a few requests here, so must reciprocate as well . Here is a Shamshad Begum song which I guess was requested by Ashish, it is one of my most favorite songs.......

Interesting song, don't remember hearing it much. Around 40 seconds before the end in the d/ another song starts! It's a pretty well known one of Shamshad "Ichak Bichak Ghurr", from Bawre Nain I think!

Sorry for the additional clip yaar. Actually I was playing the audio tape and recording onto PC, got a phonecall for few minutes and thus 'Ichak Beechak Chur' also got recorded. I deleted the file but seems the job was not completed . And yeps, 'Ichak beechak chur' is from Baware Nain, music- Roshan. As far as 'Lagi morey mann ki' is concerned I took fancy to it, the moment I heard it for the first time.

I always had a desire to hear this rare one song of Naushad movie. This was the time from when preference started completely to Lata and she getting 1/2 songs Barring deedar and mother india where she had enormous and appreciable work. It is a very sweet song hummable tune. "zara yaad rakna "Another song which i like the most is " o door koi gaye "from baiju bawra. Do you have rafi-shamshad duet ayee mohan milan ki bela "

What about Jadoo and Aan ? According to the Book on Lata Mangeshkar by Raju Bharatan, Naushad complete preference for Lata started with Jadoo. According to Naushad, he gave almost equal number of songs both to Lata and Shamshad in this film and Shamshad lost to Lata.

However, Naushad mentioned that "Lara lou lara lou" song was preferably given Shamshad bcoz Lata had weak voice which wouldnt create the desired "Lara lou" effect.

Hi ummer yes it cannot be said that prefernce started from jadoo. Though jadoo has 3 shamshad songs 4 lata songs. as i have mentioned preference started which finally ended to 1/2 song. it satrted with andaz with 5 songs to lata and one duet to her 1949 ,then came babul with shamshad songs and 2 lata ones ,followd by dulari 2 songs, baiju bawra 1 song, aan 3 songs ,deedar 3 songs,shabab 1 song ,amar,uran khatola no song,mother india 4 songs mughal-e-azam 1 song. actually naushad composed with her in 19 films but these were the main. we can see from the list excluding deedar and babul where her songs were picturised on heroine nargis,the other were for second heroine which continue with nigar sultana till 1960.

It took 7 years for making and if songs got recorede 4-5 yaers before the release then she must be out of naushas's studio by 1956-57 .It cannot be said that shamshad lost to lata in jaddo,her jadoo songs are very popular. Bit direct prefernce started with andaz itself but from jadoo,shabab she was confined to 1/2. she had recorded 4 songs including a trio between lata ,mubark but only 1 song was retained and songs on second heroines were sung by lata except by qawaali .had that songs were retianed the movie had become a realyy musical opus with thier re relaes last year

Had shamshad given more chance she had a talent to change with time (like song kabhi aar kabhi paar ) who can forget her songs holi aay ,gaadiwale from mother india. she created her own distinct style which was succesfully used in these films. change is the law of nature.
in one interview naushad's answer is in my mind that why he switched to lata when he was quiet succesful with shamshad ,

he replied " at one time shamshad replaced zohra bai in mela where8-9by shamshad and one by zohra. in same way lata replaced her :so here it is.

i have one query can anyone tell which was her last naushad song,,teri mehfil mein kismet or not.
