Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty ji is a renowned classical vocalist of India. From the Patiala Kassor Gharana, he is the first recipient of the Kumar Gandharva Award. This award is honoured onto outstanding musicians under the age of 45.
Hailing from Kolkata, Panditji also founded his dream school "Shrutinandan" offering training on vocal music to talented young children. I have attended quite a few of his vocal performances. I am touched by his simplicity and humility. I experienced this when i I went back stage to meet him after one of his perfromances with my mother. When my mother walked upto him, even before we could say something to Panditji, he bowed down at the feet of my mum seeking blessings from her. Another time, I happened to meet see him at the Delhi airport. With the intention of taking an autograph from him I walked up to him and introduced myself. Requesting the autograph to be signed for my mother, he once again only requested for the blessings and invited us to attend yet another performance of his. Uploading here are some of his classical, semi classical bengali compositions. I especially love O Mon Majhi Haal Chherona The songs are: 1.
