But, this version of 06:17 has the right song only for 05:48. The last 29 seconds are a repitition of the song from the beginning, if I am right.

More importantly, what I simply love in this song is the heavenly background aalaap that Rafi Saab renders in the very end. In Yusuf's version, that aalaap is only for 14 seconds from 05:33 to 05:47. I think that aalaap should be of a much longer duration all the way till the very end.

Anybody with longer versions fulfilling my requirement of that complete aalaap in the end?

I had played this on HF Radio, now here it is for you all, an excellent 34 minute program where you get to hear the voices of Shankar talking and Jaikishan singing a ghazal.

If you listen closely to the the Jaikishan ghazal, you will notice that the tune is similar to the tune of Mukesh's classic from Anita Gore Gore Chand Se Mukh Par.

I heard that several of Rafi - Lata tandems happened because the MD composed a great tune for the male hero, Lata loved it, and she asked the MD for a female version. That must be quite a compliment! Ehsaan Tera Hoga Muchpe, Zindagi Bhar Nahin Bhoolenge, and Mere Mehboob Tujhe are versions that I know fall in this category! In any case, I'm always interested to hear stories from someone who has seen as much as Lata!

AFAIK Ehsaan tera hoga mujhpe doesnot come under those songs where Female singer insisted on having a separate verision of her own also.

Rest of SJ songs having Separate Rafi and Lata versions were either due To SJ's insistence or film situation and else I havent heard of any incident where Lata insisted SJ give a song to her as well !
any such info is welcome !

and yes One imp reason for such separate songs was Rift between Lata and Rafi. !
