hello friends,
i am uploading two versions of ''ek dharti hai ek hai gagan'' which occur at two different points in the film ''adhikar''picturised on two different actresses. hfgk lists the songs as asha and meena kapoor.'' the meena kapoor version was relesed in a compilation of meena kapoor about a decade back. while asha has sung not sung the song.one of the version seems to be by geeta dutt.can experts identify and confirm the singers. i feel song 1 is by geeta and song 2 is by meena kapoor. regards, mahesh |

The voice is too shrill for Geeta Dutt......Lets see for people think. Moreover words like nata, chahe etc. are pronounced in a "non-Geeta" way!!!! This is a fun game.... Both the parts are sung by meena kapoor. She had that peculiar habit of pronouncing "N", "T" and "R" without giving any stress...somewhat like the people speaking hindi in english style. Bappa da....this is the reason you could find flaw in her pronouncing the word "nata". Also listen to the words ambar...saagar...dharti...tutey. Moreover, the words dharti, gagan and mun in the starting of both the parts have been sung in that peculiar style...had there been two singers the pronunciation would have been quite discernible. My personal opinion is that she sang that song better than lata...that particular song....she sang from the core of her heart...perheps her husband's music had something special that touched her emotions while singing....true emotional outbursts. The film although failing at the box office is still remembered for his singer wife Meena Kapoor's rendering of Kuchh Aur Zamana Kehta Hai. Incidentally Anilda's one grouse with the Film Iindustry was that it never gave Meena Kapoor (Rasiya re - Pardesi) her due. He always used to say that here was a voice with base, huskiness and sex! But the Film Industry just didn't know how to use it!
