Dear Shuklaji,
Thank you very much for all the wonderful uploads. This topic of 'Raag Rang' is indeed a highlight of HF & gives it a really classy indian feel. Thanks again. Uploading Pt. Basavraj Rajguru's Ahir Bhairav. A much under-rated Kirana Gharana singer who learnt from Rambhau Kundgolkar (Sawai Gandharva), the foremost disciple of Ustad Abdul Karim Khan. He also learnt from another Kirana-great, Abdul Wahid Khan. This is a beautiful 3 1/2 min 78 rpm recording of the raaga. For lovers of recent movies, does this song seem familiar?? Some examples of Ahir Bhairav based songs in hindi movies: 'poocho na kaise maine rain bitaayee' - manna/meri surat teri aankhen 'mere veena tum bin roye' - lata/dekh kabira roya 'apne jeevan ke uljhan ko' - kishore/uljhan 'waqt karta jo waafa' - mukesh/dil bhi tera hum bhi tere (?) 'koyi lauta de mere' - kishore/door gagan ke chhaon mein Regards-Archie. Attached File(s) wmplayer.exe ( 508 k ) Number of hits: 8 by members |

Dear Shukla-ji,
I do not have them in digital format. I have a cassette of his 78 rpm recording of 'neer bharan kaise jaaun' in Tilak Kamod. In this context, Lata's song from Dil Ek Mandir - 'main tere pyar mein saara aalam kho baithe' is a beautiful composition by Shankar Jaikishan in the same raaga. The opening strains of sitar (probably by Ustad Rais Khan) is lovely. Regards-Archie. |
