QUOTE(hits @ Aug 16 2005, 07:37 PM) I do not have a listing either. But after listening, lemme venture a guess nevertheless - Nazir Hussain. Ahaaa! I knew there was a male voice. I thought I was hearing things! This Priya is losing her hearing power (at such an early age!!)...well.....i told her not to listen to Asha so much - told her that Lata is the only way - she didn't listen..now she thinks male voice sounds like Asha!!! Keshav: Thanks a lot - really appreciate the acknowledgement (same goes for U toooo Priya & Hits too..for all that song-info, both here and in the Lata group. ). As for the song, Bane Bade Raja - the music is pretty cool - a little different - perhaps the male voice is that of the actor in the film, who says these lines just before the song starts. - Music Has No Language -

But after listening, lemme venture a guess nevertheless - Nazir Hussain. The voice is of famous announcer of yesteryears Pandit Vinod Sharma. He and Amin Sayani are considered as the two best Radio announcers for AIR. When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others

QUOTE(sangeetbhakt @ Jul 19 2005, 02:41 AM) QUOTE(sani_thakur @ Jul 18 2005, 01:04 PM) Okie....I thought I should start a similar thread (as I did in the Lata subforum) here as well. Songs will be random, any language (unless there are language rules here like Bengali songs in Bengali forum only?!?!), and those that have not been uploaded here before (most of the time). Requests are allowed as well. So..being Bengali, I begin with 2 Bangla numbers - very popular - and my favourites. (i don't know the music director in these songs, or if they are filmi/non-filmi) Song #1: Asha - Jodi Kane Kane Kichu Bole Bodhua Song #2: Asha - O Pakhi Ure Aaye Ure Aaye Sani. I have partial information about both songs. "Jodi kaane kaane kichhu" has music by RDB according to my notes. Don't know if it is film or not. "O paakhi uDe aaye" is from the film "Jibon rahasya". Don't have any more info on it. But the music sounds very very Salil-esque. Would love to know the full details of both songs including the year. Both are from Jibon Rahasya (Rohoshyo-chuckle!). Music by Salil Chowdhury's ardent admirer & student Abhijit Bandopadhyay (the interlude music of 'o paakhi udi aaye' is a give-away!). The movie was from the early 70's. I had heard Abhijit B on a radio programme last year where he said that these 2 songs were his first (and only?) venture with Asha-tai. He had gone all the way to Bombay to record the songs. Asha-tai's awesome popularity & incredibly busy schedule made her skip dates & default pre-determined schedules. At last, when money was drying up for Abhijit & his team, he gatecrashed into her house (at Prabhu Kunj?) & told her politely about her contract & her delays that were causing his and his producers monetary loss. Asha-tai, after a long day was tired and with an expression of slight irritation asked him to play/sing the tunes. Abhijit sang then (with Asha-tai's harmonium) & a delighted Asha-tai practised both these numbers with him for the entire night and the next day, recorded both of them, first thing in the morning, on first take, perfect in all respects. She even took the initiative to book a slot in the studio as Abhijit was not sure of the day on which the recording would have taken place. A talented composer with many popular bengali songs to his credit.: Manna-babu's 'ke tumi ke tumi' from the same film, Hemanta babu's adhunik numbers 'shobaai chole gechhe' & 'emon ekta jhor uthuk', Shyamal Mitra's 'chhipkhan teen dnaar' etc are amongst a few of them. Regards-Archie. |
