Hi all.....Well, I recently recieved a request from one of the HF members....to post Slokas on the Spirituality thread......So I thought it would be a good idea to get started......
Well, let me point out that by SLOKAS, here, I mean....the small 4-lined....8-lined verses in praise of various Gods/Goddesses......The long...Big ones....with many stanzas will be referred to as "STOTRAS" (Atleast as far as this thread is concerned..) Most of the Slokas and Stotras in hinduism are Sanskrit based, though there are also Slokas in other Indian languages such as Hindi, Marathi, Tamil etc.
So...starting off on this thread...All of you are welcome to add your valuable inputs....Later on, if the thread starts expanding, we can create seperate thread for different Gods etc...

My ishtadevta is Ganesh
N
ps: I can transcribe some more slokas from the books I have (me studied Sanskrit in school/college as 2nd lang:P)..
Wow!!! Nimmi-the linguist!!! Nice to know that I started off with your IshtaDevta..... Well, so you studied Sanskrit as your second language??? Woww!!! That's really great.......Well, I had studied Sanskrit (the basics) for the last three years of my schooling....but we didn't have "Slokas" in the syllabus......it was more of Poetry-based on diff. topics....philosophy......riddles etc. Very less of "Slokas" within the lessons...... Do teach me some good Sanskrit.......Start off with putting up your slokas!!!

Hey folks, let me make a BIG request here please:
Whoever uploads a shloak should also give its meaning (like Nimii is doing). Hopefully, line for line (and if necessary, the gist). Not only will that help us understand the full shloak, but also what each line means.
Is that a practical request?
Continuing on the Lord Ganesha Theme......I'm attaching a wonderful Stotra on him - called "SHREE GANAPATI STOTRAM"....written by the famous Narad Muni.....from the Naarada Purana.....It contains the 12 special names (Dwaadasha naamam) of Ganapati......and reciting this sloka is said to be really
special and auspicious...And said to remove all obstacles from your path....And is said to be really beneficial for Children ("Students" of any age)-For studies; Acquiring of Wealth; begetting Children for child-less couple and Welfare and Moksha......(These 'benefits' are mentioned in the latter part of the Stotra itself......

I'm attaching a file below......from the Album "VISHWA VINAAYAKA", where this Stotra has been rendered by S.P.Balasubramaniam, with three sets of Chorus - Children, Ladies and Gents respectively.....and the whole Song/Stotra in the backdrop of Symphony Orchestra music (Composed by Ajay-Atul). The album was released about 2 years ago (A TIMES MUSIC Presentation). The audio is really good quality, and the Stotra has been recited in a very CLEAR and PERFECT manner (the pronounciations etc.) and will help you learn the Stotra very quickly....Also......the music is Sooooo wonderful.....it'll grow on you....and you'ld enjoy hearing it again and again.....and will get the Stotra by-heart within no time!!! ALL THE BEST!!!
PS:- I hope not to raise any issues of the Year of release again.....but seeing some uploads in the Classical section (Classical Fusion albums such as "Naina Pyaase" by Rashid Khan etc. - 2003 release)..I was only TOOO tempted to upload this wonderful Stotra......(Now.....if you say "Naina Pyaase" album...has songs of Amir Khusro etc.....Hence OLD creations...then.....This Stotra is written by NAARAD MUNI!!! ) And I've uploaded it only to Aid you in getting the Stotra perfecty.......Hope No issues are raised again....God Forbid....if it happens....I'll have to delete the attachment...and PM it to all those who need it.....
Meaning will be given in next post....as this has got too long....
Hmm.....the longer my Stotras/Slokas are getting......The lesser the replies/posts from others....."WIERD"!!!!
My humble contribution to this thread -

Shyam and Man,
Thanks. One of the Shiva Stotras that is very popular in Andhra is Vishwanatha Ashtakam. It goes :
Gangataranga kamaneeya jaTaakalaapam
Gauri nirantara vibhushita vaamabhaagam
Narayanapriya managya madaapahaaram
Vaaranasipurapatim bhaja viswanaatham
The rest of the slokas all end with the fourth line above. Uploading in SPB's voice. I am curious to know if this ashtakam is popular outside andhra.
Let me begin with this slokam Its a humble attempt , I do not know Sanskrit so please forgive any mistakes. Will be highly obliged if someone could translate this slokam

Prayerful Meditation
Om Bhagwad Geeta - with which Partha was enlightened by Shree Narayana himself and which was incorporated in the midst of Mahabharata by the ancient Saint Vyasa - Oh blessed mother who is showering the nectarian philisophy of Advaita in the form of 18 chapters, upon Thee I constantly meditate - You, the sure antidote to the rocking experiences of change.
Salutation unto thee, Oh! Vyasa!of mighty intellect, who has eyes as the petals of a full-bloomed lotus-flower, by whom was lightened the lamp of knowledge filled with the Mahabharata oil.
Salutations to Krishna: Who is a tree of fulfillment, to all those who totally surrender to him, who has milked the Geeta nectar, the holder of Janamudra, the weilder of the cane in one hand with which he drives home the herd of cattle under his protection.
All the Upanishads are cows, the son of the cowherd is the milkman, Partha is the calf, men of pure intellect are the enjoyers and the supreme nectar of Geeta is the milk.I salute Krishna, the teacher of the universe, the divine son of Vasudeva, destroyer of Kamsa and Chanura, the supremem joy of Devaki.
The river of battle, with Bheeshma and Drona as its banks, with Jayadratha as its water; with the King of Gandhara as the blue water lily; Salya as the shark; Kripa as the current; Karna as the breaker; Aswathama and Vikarna as the terrible crocodiles ; Duryodhana as the whirlpool in it - was indeed crossed ove by the Pandavas with Keshavas as the ferry-man.
May the spotless lotus of Mahabharata - growing in the waters of the words of Parasara's son [Vyasa], having for its sweet and pleasant fragrance the significance of the Geeta, with many narratives as its soft inner petals, fully blossomed by the stories of Hari and joyously drunk day after day by the six footed [ honey-bees ]the good in the world-be productive of the supreme good to us who are eager to destroy and safely come out of the inner imperfections of the Iron Age.
I salute that supreme bliss, Madhava , whose grace renders the mute, eloquent and the cripple, cross mountains.
Salutations unto that God - head whom the creator Bramha, Lord Varuna, Lord Indra, Lord Rudra and the Lord of the Maruts invoke with their divine hymns; whom the singers of the Sama songs invoke through their correct and appropriate chantings; whom the Yogis realise with their minds absorbed in the goal of their contemplation through perfect meditation and whose limits are not known even to the denizens of the heavens or to the asuras of the nether kingdom.
This is a good thread for the help that I need. Many times on TV I have heard a female voice chanting a shloka which goes something like this:
Prasanna vadana Sowbhagya dayaka
Abhayaprada nanavidhi bhushita
I first heard it on a commercial for Tanishq watches, later in the background for NDTV news and last for the promo of Deepti Bhatnagar's Yatra serial on Star Plus.
I've inquired from lots of people but no success.
If anyone can give me any info about this shloka and the singer, I'd be greatful.
Hi friends.......am uploading the first chapter of Geeta..........Sorry it took this long a time. I have typed only part of the sloka and translation in this post. I shall post the remaining part of chapter 1 very soon.

Dhrishtrashtra said
What did my people and also the sons of Pandu do when desirous of fighting they assembled on the hold plain of Kurukshetra, O Sanjaya
Sanjay said, Having seen the army of the Pandavas, drawn up in battle array, king Duryodhana has approached his teacher Dronacharya and spoke these words.Behold O teacher! this mighty army of the sons of Pandu arrayed by the son of Drupada, thy wise disciple. Here are heroes and mighty archers equal in battle to Bheema and Arjuna. Yuyudhana, Viraat and Drupada, the great chariot warrior.Dhrishtaketu, Chekitana and the vigilant King of Kashi. Purujit, Kuntibhoja and Saibya, the best of men. The strong Yuddhamanyu and the brave Uttamaujas, the son of Subhadra, Abhimanyu and the sons of Draupadi, all mighty warriors. Know also, O best among the twice born! the names of those who are most distinguished among oursleves, the leaders of my army; those I name to thee for thy information. Yourself and Bheeshma, Karna and also Kripa, the victorious in war Aswatthama Vikarna and so also the son of Somadatta. And many other Heros who are also determined to give their lives for my sake, armed with various weapons and missiles, all well-skilled in battle. This army of ours defended by Bheeshma is insufficient, whereas that army of theirs deended by Bheema is sufficient OR this army of ours protected by Bheesham is unlimited whereas that army of theirs protected by Bheema is limited. Therefore do you all stationed in your respective position in the several divisions of army, protect Bheeshma alone.
His mighty grandsire [ Bheeshma ] the oldest of the Kauravas, in order to cheer Duryodhana, now sounded aloud a lion's roar and blew his conch. Then conches and kettle drums, tabors, drums and cow horns blared forth quite suddenly and the sound was tremendous. Then, also, Madhava and the son of Pandu, seated in their magnificent chariot, yoked with white horses, blew their divine conches. Hrishikesha blew the Panchajanya and Dhananjaya [ Arjuna ]blew the Devadatta and Vakodara [ Bheema ] the doer of terrible deeds, blew the great conch named Paundra. King Yudhisthira , son of Kunti blew the Anantavijayam. Nakul and Sahadeva blew Sughosha and Manipushpaka. The king of Kashi, an excellent archer. Sikhandi the mighty commander of eleven thousand archers, Dhrishtadhyumna, Viraata and Satyaki the unconquered. Drupada and the sons of Draupadi, O Lord of the earth and the son of Subhadra, the mighty armed, blew their respective conches. That tumultuous sound rent the hearts of the people of Dhritrashtra's party and made both heaven and earth reverberate.

Then, seeing the people of Dhritirashtra's party standing arrayed and the discharge of weapons about begin, Arjuna, the son of Pandu, whose ensign was a monkey, took up his bow and said these words to Krishna [ Hrishikesha ] O Lord of Earth. Arjuna said, in the midst of two armies place my chariot, O Achyuta! that i may behold those who stand here desirous of fighting and on this eve of battle let me know whith whom all must I fight. For I desir to observe those who are assembled here for the fight, wishing to please in battle the evel minded son of Dhritrashtra.
Sanjaya said, Thus addressed by Gudakesa, O Bharata, Hrishikesha, having stationed that best of chariots between the two armies. In front of Bheeshama nd Drona and all the rulers of the earth. He [ the Lord Krishna ] said -" O Partha, behold these Kurus gathered together " Then saw Partha, stationed there in both the armies, fathers and grandfathers, teachers, maternal uncles, broters, sons, grandsons, father-in-laws and friends too. The son of Kunti, seeing all these kinsmen thus standing arrayed spoke thus sorrowfully, filled with deep pity. Arjuna said, seeing these my kinsmen, O Krishna, arrayed, eager to fight, my limbs fail and my mouth is parched, my body quivers and my hair stands on end. The Gandiva-bow slips off from my hand and my skin burns all over. I am also unable to stand and my mind is whirling round as it were. And I see adverse omens O Keshava, nor did I see any good from killing my Kinsmen in battle. For I desire not victory, O Krishna, nor kingdom, nor pleasures. Of what avail is dominion to us, O Govinda? Of what avail are plaesures or life itself? They, for whose sake we desire kingdom, enjoyments and pleasures stand here in battle, having renounced life and wealth.Teachers, fathers, sons and also grandfathers, maternal uncles, father in laws, grandsons, brother in laws and other relatives. These I do not wish to kill even if killed by them, O Madhusudana even for the sake of the dominion over the three worlds; how much less for the sake of the earth. Killing these sons of Dhritrashtra what pleasures can be ours, O Janardhana? Sin alone will be our gain by killing these felons. Therefore, we should not kill the sons of Dhritarashtra, our own relatives; for how can we be happy by killing our own people, O madhava? Though these, with their intelligence clouded by greed, see no evil in the destruction of the families in the society and no sin in their cruelty to friends. Why should not we, who clearly see evil in the destruction of the family-units, learn to turn away from this sin, O Janardhana? In the destruction of a family, the immemorial religious rites of that family perish; on the destruction of sacred rights, impiety overcomes the whole family. By the prevalance of impiety, O Krishna, the woman of the family become corrupt; and women being corrupted, O descendent of Vrishni-clan, there arises admixture of castes. " Admixture of castes " leads the slayers of families to hell- for their forefathers fall, being deprived by the offerings of the Pinda [ rice ball ]and water [libations ]By these evil deeds of the " destroyers of the family ", which cause admixture of castes, the eternal religious rites of the caste and the family are destroyed.we have heard, O Janardhana, that it is inevitable for those men in whose families the religious practices have been destroyed to dwell in hell for an unknown period of time. Alas! we are involved in perpitrating a great sin, in that we are prepared to kill our kinsmen, goaded by greed for the pleasures of the kingdom. If the sons of Dhritarashtra, weapons in hand slay me, unresisting and unarmed, in the battle thatwould be better for me.
Sanjay said- Having thus spoke in the midst of the battle field, Arjuna sat down on the seat of the chariot, casting away his bow and arrow, with a mind overwhelmed with sorrow. On Tat Sat. Thus in the Upanishads of the glorious Bhagwad Geeta, in the science of the eternal, the scripture of Yoga, in the dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna, the first discourse ends, entitled: THE YOGA OF THE ARJUNA-GRIEF
Lovely posting Lata ... I have quiet few CDs and Tapes, my personal favourite, Gana Taranga..... By Swami Brahmananda.....

Hi all,
All interested in getting pdf documents for various religious scriptures (mostly in Sanskrit), please visit this website: http://sanskrit.gde.to/
It would of great use to those who are able to read the Devanagiri script. There are also pdf documents in English wich explain the meaning of many of the texts. It takes time to get used to the site layout, but some amount of browsing / experimenting is indeed worthwhile.
For any specific queries, do PM me and i shall try my best.
Happy browsing !
Vivek

Chapter two
Sanjay said - To whom was thus overcome with pity and despondency, with eyes full of tears and agitated Madhusudana [ the destroyer of Madhu ] spoke these words.
The Blesses Lord said - whence is this perilous condition come upon thee, this dejection, un-Aryan like, heaven-excluding, disgraceful, O Arjuna?
Yield not to impotence, O Partha! It does not befit thee. Cast off this mean weakness of heart! Stand up, O scorcher of foes!
Arjun said - How, O madhusudana, shall I in battle fight with arrows, against Bheeshma and Drona, who are fit to be worshipped, O destroyer of enemies! Better indeed in this world to eat even the bread of " Beggary " than to slay the most noble of teachers. But if I kill them, even in this world all my enjoyments of wealth and desires will be stained with blood. I can scarcely say which will be better, that they conquer us or we should conquer them. Even the sons of Dhritarashtra, after slaying whom we do not wish to live, stand facing us. My heart is over powered by the taint of pity; my mind is confused as to duty. I ask thee, tell me decisively what is good for me. I am thy disciple. Instruct me who has taken refuge in thee.I do not see that it would remove this sorrow that burns up my senses, even if I should attain prosperous and unrivalled dominion on earth, or even Lordship over the Gods.
Sanjay said - Having spoken thus to Hrishikesha, Gudakesha, destroyer of foes, said to Govinda: " I will not fight ", and became silent. To him who was despondent in the midst of the two armies, Hrishikesha, as if smiling, O Bharata, spoke these words.
The Blessed Lord said - You have grieved for those that should not be grieved for; yet you speak these words of wisdom. The wise grieve neither for the living nor for the dead.It is not that anytime [ in the past ] indeed, was I not, nor were you, nor these rulers of men. Nor, verily, shall we ever cease to be hearafter. Just as in this body the embodied [ soul ]passes into childhood, youth and old age,
so also does he pass into another body; the firm man does not grieve at it. The contact of senses with objects, O son of Kunti, which cause heat and cold, pleasure and pain, have a beginning and an end; they are impermanent; endure them bravely, O descendant of Bharata. O chief among men, that firm man whom,
surely, these afflict not, to whom pleasure and pain are same, is fit for realising Immortality of the self. The unreal has no being; there is no being of the real; the truth about both these have been seen by the knowers of the truth [ or the seers of the Essence ] Know, that to be indestructible by which all this is prevaded, none can cause the destruction of That - The Imperishable. They have an end, it is
said, these bodies of the embodied self. The self is eternal, indestructible, incomprehensible. Therefore, fight, O Bharata. He who takes the self to be the slayer, and he who thinks He is slain, neither of these knows, he slays not, nor is he slain. He is not born, nor does He ever die; after having been, He again ceases not to be; unborn, eternal, changeless and ancient, He is not killed when the body is killed. Whosoever knows Him to be indestructible, eternal, unborn and inexhaustible, how can that man slay, O Partha, or cause others to be slain? Just as a man casts off his worn out clothes and puts on new ones, so also the embodied self casts off its worn out bodies and enters others which are new. Weapons cleave It not, fire burns It not, water wets It not, wind dries It not. This self cannot be cut, not burnt, not wetted, nor dried up. It is eternal, all-prevading, stable, immovable and ancient. This [ self ] is said to be unmanifested, unthinkable and unchangeable. Therefore, knowing This to be such you should not grieve.
Heres a nice sloka to be recited early morning before getting out of bed:
Karaagre Vasate Lakshmi
Karamadhye Saraswati
Karamoole Sthite Gauri
Prabhaate Karadarshanam
Gist:
The Goddess Lakshmi resides at the top of the palm
Goddess Saraswati in the middle of the palm
Goddess Gauri (Parvati) resides at the base of the palm
See your palm early in the morning
I guess the prayer invokes the blessings of the three godesses (wealth, knowledge and courage).
Vivek
PS : Does anyone know a forum for discussing points of the Gita .. I always read till mid of the second chapter.. and then give up... all the philosophy becomes just too much for me ! :-(
Very nice. The one I say goes like this:
Karaagre vasate laxmi
Karmoole saraswati
Karmadhye tu govinda
Prabhaate kar darshanam
For Bhagwad Geeta I think you should just read it as story first and dont go chapter by chapter, just open the book and read from middle. Once you know bits and pieces, it will be more interesting... easier to understand. Thats how I started out.
Hi folks,
Here is a nice site http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/ Thanks to Hitesh for sharing this info. You will find the Bhagwad Gita and its translations and a lot more. I shall post the chanting of Bhagwad Gita very soon
Lata
The chantings are by Shri Swami Bramhananda and the translation by Swami Chinmayanda from Chinmaya Mission.

Heres another short one from me:
I had this in school in one of the 'Subhaashithmaala' poetries..
Namaste Shaarade-Devi Kaashmiira-pura Vaasini
Tvaam-Aham Praartthaye Devi Vidyaa-Daanamcha Dehi Nah
Gist:
I bow to Goddess Shaarada, resident of the regions of Kashmir
I pray to you to give us the gift of knowledge.
Ive taken the liberty of changing the original Dehi Mey to Dehi Nah. (changing 'Give me' to 'Give us') Maybe the more knowledgeable Sanskrit members could correct me ? Hitsji ?
I suspect this should have been composed by Shri Adi Shankaracharya ... Any idea ?

Sorry NM, I dont seem to have it.. neither the pdf nor an audio clip. I only seem to have a couple of files on Shiva Sahasranaamam, though I have no idea what they are (Life mein kabhi to kaam aayega bolke save kar liya tha !) I checked up the starting lines in them, but couldnt find any. So I assume they are different.
Most of my sloka pdf files have been picked up from this site : http://sanskrit.gde.to/
You could try your luck there. And yes, do upload the pdf file if you do get it :-)
Thanks,
Vivek

Have you all heard the story of Pushpadant and how he went about writing this great stotra? If not, let me know I will share.
Can u please share it with us Chitz
Thanks
The story goes like this. Gandharvaraaj Pushpadant, who had teeth like flower buds was very very intelligent.
Now in those days, the king of Kaashi used to have beautiful gardens in his palace where he had world's most beautiful flowers growing. To protect the gardens from thieves he had many many security guards guarding them. But as time went by, the guards and the king discovered that someone was stealing their flowers without their knowledge. They discovered of new theft every morning so the king increased the security in gardens and tried very hard to protect more flowers from being stolen. For months they couldnt catch the culprit behind it. Finally the king asked wise Brahmins in his city to help him catch the thief somehow. After consulting the Brahmins, the king took a step that no one had imagined. The next morning the guards caught the thief redhanded, very frustrated in the garden. It was none other than Pushpadant. They caught him and brought him in the castle in front of the king. The king was quite upset and was about to punish him of his wrongdoings. Pushpadant said to the king he was ready to accept any fine/punishment that he had for him but requested to king to tell him more about how he was able to catch him. The king asked him whether he knew what he was stepping onto in the garden at night while stealing. Pushpadant mentioned it was leaves that he was stepping on. King told him those werent ordinary leaves, it was the Bili leaves that had once been used for pooja of Lord Shiva linga in temple. Pushpadant confessed how he had forgotten his stotra for becoming invisible and not only that but he had forgotten all other knowledge he had at that time when he was on those leaves. He realized what power these leaves had when they had only touched the Shiva linga. He realized the eternal power of Lord Shiva and became his devotee right there. Thats when he decided to write this stotra we know as Shivmahimna stotra.
It is said there is no better stuti(prayer) than the Shivmahimna stotra in this world.

Shiv Taandav Stuti ... by Ashit Desai
RUDRASHTAK - the renowned saint Tulsidas, the author of Ramcharit Manas, has composed this wonderful prayer. It covers the entire range of Shivatva - Shivaness - of unmanifest and manifest Shiva. Once Shiva was angry with his devotee because he was irreverential to his master. Tulsidas spontaneously sung this hymn to pacify Shiva. One can immediately feel the soothing feeling leading to inner peace.

I bow to the Ruler of the Universe, whose very form is Liberation,
the omnipotent and all pervading Brahma, manifest as the Vedas.
I worship Shiva, shining in his own glory, without physical qualities,
Undifferentiated, desireless, all pervading sky of consciousness
and wearing the sky itself as His garment.

I bow to the supreme Lord who is the formless source of “OM”
The Self of All, transcending all conditions and states,
Beyond speech, understanding and sense perception,
Awe-full, but gracious, the ruler of Kailash,
Devourer of Death, the immortal abode of all virtues.

I worship Shankara, Bhavani’s husband,
The fierce, exalted, luminous supreme Lord.
Indivisible, unborn and radiant with the glory of a million suns;
Who, holding a trident, tears out the root of the three-fold suffering,
And who is reached only through Love.

Dispeller of delusion…
Have mercy on me, foe of Lust.

Have mercy on me, Lord.

Protect me my Lord, miserable and afflicted as I am

This eightfold hymn of praise was sung by the Brahman to please Shankara.
Shambhu will be pleased with whomever heartfully recites it.

Here's a very special rendition of the Stotram "MADHURAASHTAKAM", by the one and only M.S.Subbalakshmi!!! The Stotra has been composed by the famous saint Shri Vallabhacharya, and has been sung in the Raga Mishra Khamaj Enjoy this divine, soulful rendition
You are most welcome BJ bhai!!!!!!
Here's another wonderful rendition by Smt. M.S.Subbalakshmi. This time, a composition of Sri Jayadeva, taken from his famed work, the GITA GOVINDA, where he describes the Dasavatara of Lord Vishnu. Wonderfully rendered by M.S, as always
Shyam,
Just tell me which Male singer's (Jagjit Singh / Anup Jalota or any one else) Hanuman Chalisa should I go for !!!!
Rgds,
Debu
Debu Da....... I'm yet to hear a version by Jagjit Singh. HAve come across the Anup Jalota version long back, though I don't have it with me. I do have a version by Hariharan, which is good. If you want, can upload the same for you
Thanks Shyam,
Hariharan one must be best....
Rgds.,
Debu,
Debu Da Here's the Hariharan version of HANUMAN CHALISA for you!!! Hope you like it.
Thanks Shyam.
Yesterday I went to Planet M for the same. But didnt find it. I tried to call u from there but your mobile was not reachable. The planet M guy said that there were no HARIHARAN version of Hanuman Chalisa. Instead he mentioned Hari Om Sharan. So I tried to reconfirm the same from u.
But it was worth going to Planet M yesterday bcz there I saw Anuksha Shankar on the floor releasing her new Grammy Nominated album.
Rgds,
Debu.
You are most welcome Debu Da Well, this particular version by Hariharan, is a very old one........ It was a T-Series release ages ago, when Hariharan wasn't as popular a singer in films. He had sung for some devotional albums for T-Series then. And another interesting point I would like to mention is, about an year or two back, I saw this cassette being played at a temple, and went and checked the cover for details, and surprisingly found that Hariharan's name didn't figure ANYWHERE on the cassette or its cover or the track details!!!!! On the front cover, it was given - "Kalaakaar: Gulshan Kumar" (In Hindi)......
This got me into deep thought......... now there are two possibilities ...... ONE - T-Series didn't mention Hariharan's name, though he has sung it.
TWO - Gulshan Kumar possibly had a voice, exactly resembling Hariharan's, and has actually sung the whole album, and hence his name figured under the head of Kalaakar (Artiste).
Well, I've seen the videos for this album on TV, which had Gulshan Kumar acting as the singer for all the tracks..... But he has done it for almost all albums released during his time....... while singers like Suresh Wadkar, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam etc. did the playback for the devotional albums. Hence I would say, that Hariharan was definitely the singer, though his name doesn't figure anywhere in the credits.... If you are looking for this album, try checking for Hanuman Albums by T-Series, you are sure to find it. (And yes, make sure you don't search for albums by "HARIHARAN", instead search for ones by T-Series with "Gulshan Kumar" as the artiste )
PS: Lucky you........ Got to see Anoushka Shankar on your visit to Planet M
The HANUMAN CHAALISA again....... this time, a M.S.Subbalakshmi rendition Truly Divine
Thanks shyam for both the Hanuman Chaalisa renditions.
