Again one more lovely song that I found a few days ago.

Parag ji - hope you like this one - and hope this has not been uploaded earlier on Geeta ji's forum

Song - nishi raat banka chand akashey chupi chupi banshi baaje batashey....

Size - 3.83
Length - 4.07
Bitrate - 128 kbps

Joy, sorrow, tears, lamentation, laughter — to all these music gives voice, but in such a way that we are transported from the world of unrest to a world of peace, and see reality in a new way, as if we were sitting by a mountain lake and contemplating hills and woods and clouds in the tranquil and fathomless water.

- Albert Schweitzer

Without music life would be a mistake
- Friedrich Nietzsche

Where words fail, music speaks
- Hans Christian Anderson

Music is spiritual. The music business is not
- Van Morrison

I like this one??

I love this song and have been listening to it for last 20 years or more. In case some one asks me to pick one song of Geeta ji, it has to be this song for me...

Thanks for sharing it Bhavita.

And after reading meaning of some of its lines here on our site, I am completely mesmerized by this lovely melody.

Here is the gist of the meaning of Nishi raat...

Nishi raat, banka chand aakashe chupi chupi banshi baaje batashe

The night is dark, the moon not so perfect, and the wind blows silently like the flute

Bhanga ghore du diner khela ghar
Koto bhanga tobu elo jochona
Phule, phule, cheye galo baluchor
Swapno bashore kori rochona

the broken hut is our play room
So broken yet the moonlight falls on it
The sand shore is filled with flowers all over
i dream of our first night together

Ei jibone joto tuku peyechi
Mon bole taro beshi peyechi

Whatever little I got from life
My heart says I received more than I ever wanted

Jibone ro pothe pothe cholite
Joto asha giyechilo phuriye
Gojo moti hare jano dhuliye
Bhikharini pelo aaj kuraye

as I walk through the journey of life
All my hopes are lost
A garland of pearl lies a strewn
The beggar-maid comes and picks them up

Joy, sorrow, tears, lamentation, laughter — to all these music gives voice, but in such a way that we are transported from the world of unrest to a world of peace, and see reality in a new way, as if we were sitting by a mountain lake and contemplating hills and woods and clouds in the tranquil and fathomless water.

Bhavita

I have been hunting for this translation for years and finally you have fulfilled this dream for me. Many many thanks to you and your friend (s).

I would dare to say that this is not a film lyric, it sounds more like a sheer poetry to me, a divine one indeed. A great composition by poet Pranab Roy and composer Nachiketa Ghosh for the film Prithibi Aamare Chaay (1957).

I have provided this translation on the YT video for the benefit of every one who wants to see, listen and understand this lovely song.

Wonderful, simply wonderful. Thank you once again

Warmest Regards
Parag

I definitely would not call this a "feeble" attempt smile1.gif

I am glad you liked it Bhavita, it would not have been possible without help from you and your friend.

Well, the transalation is solely my Friend's contribution. The rest of the dedication and expression was all yours smile1.gif
