(Shailendra) Baadshah (1954)
Aparesh Lahiri, who sang the solo in this album “Jaage Mera Dil Soye Zamaana”, was a famous Bengali playback singer. He (see the attached picture) is the father of the famous music director and singer Bappi Lahiri. I am not aware of much of his work in Hindi but the solo in this album is outstanding. The way he sang the song it had that melancholic ring of the immortal Saigal Saab that also is Hemantda’s trademark singing. Speaking of Hemantda, he has a duet and solo that is a dual song in this album. As expected, Hemantda is simply superb. Here are these and other songs from this album… Attached image(s) |

I will start from ‘Patita’, ‘Yaad Kiya Dil Ne Kahan Ho tum’ by Jagjit sahib & Chorus. In the song, Jagjit sahab’s voice is full of emotions with feathery softness, & succeed to touch the soul .
Baiju Bawaraa – Too excellent to say a word. Kala Samandar –Never heard ‘Mohabbat Karo’ , thanks to Taiyab sahib for this gem, still my all-time favorite of this film is ‘Meri Tasveer Lekar Kya Karoge’ . (Here Anand Bakshi sahib is ahead of Sahir-the Great .. ha ha ha). Sazaa – Un-doughtily ‘Tum Na Jaane Kis Jahan Mein Kho Gaye’ by Lata, is an immortal song, hearing this song by Brian Silos on piano is definitely a heavenly journey . ‘Ye Baat Koii samjhaye Re’ is beautifully sung by Sandhya Mukharji & deserves for collection, it recalls me her excellent song ‘Maine Jo Li Angdayee’ from ‘Jagte Raho’. ‘Dil Diya Dard Liya’, all songs are gems, collected ‘Koii Sagar ‘ on saxophone by Manohari Singh. ‘Mr & Mrs 55’ – Unable to say anything about O P Naiyyar-The Great. Apart from songs, music clips too are worthy for collection. As per OPN Sahab, ‘Preetam aan Milo’ was written by himself (1946) but to save tax it was labeled on his wife’s name Saroj. This song is excellently sung by C H Atmaram Sahab. ‘Badshah’ to badshah hi hai. ‘Aa Nile Gagan’ song is far far ahead of expression ‘excellent’. Aparesh Lahiri Sahib, not much known in HFM, good to know about him. It is a boon to hear Rafi Sahab vs. Habib Wali Sahab 'Tasveer Banata Hoon' from Diwana. Dear SP, my heartfelt thanks for providing us all these Gems that too in excellent quality with doubly excellent descriptions. WAITING FOR MANY MORE GEMS USR My Dear USR, Thank you very much for taking time to share your thoughts on these songs. Since the problems associated with uploading files, that lasted nearly nine long weeks without a clue of what is happening, I have a feeling that the patronage of the Forum has noticeably dropped. May be this is simply my feeling. I hope I am wrong about this. Again, many thanks for your comments. Any good word is always encouraging. Cheers, S |

(Javed Akhtar) Meri Jung (1985)
Apart from the usual singers this album boasts three unlikely singers. Actor Javed Jafri joins Janaki and Kishoreda in the popular chart buster song “Bol Baby Bol”. Also, the co-music director Laxmikantji joins the producer and director of the film, Subhash Ghai in the song “Jhoom Le Ghoom Le”. Here are these and other popular songs from this entertaining album… Attached image(s) |

(Majrooh) Musafir Khana (1955) Here are the songs from a typical OP album... Hello Swarapriya ji, In the song Agar baabu dil pe kaabu, along with the chorus (during the antaras) it seems that Rafi saab is also singing, though it is quite faint. It is definitely the only male voice in the song. It is so much like his voice. I hope someone can confirm. Thanks! Bekasi ka parcham le khada hoon main akela,
Isiliye ke majrooh aur koi nahi jahaan mein. |
