A collection of Ghazals composed by Muzaffar Ali, released in 2000.
Here is the preface to the album, by Muzaffar Ali An album of poetry of this century, of poets of a united Indiawho witnessed the partition of this country and could express the anguish of this trauma through their poems. Love and human concerns reigned supreme in their poetry...separation from their soil, their friends, their beloved have found dual meanings in their verse...The poets have responded to the needs of the moment, in response to the political machinations and the effect on the helpless human have been internalised in the imagery of his ghazal...the beloved becoming his country and himself the lover. The dreamers of the pen continued their struggle for freedom...for the oneness of man...the eternal lover; an egalitarian world...the garden of love...together in an undivided India and after 1947 across both borders...they rejected the artificial boundaries that divided their heritage and nostalgia. Their romanticism triggered off the spirit of revolution within dreamers on both sides. Some were imprisoned; some exiled; their language was decimated so that their ode of love remains onto themselves. This is humble tribute to these giants. I have composed these poems with simplicity so that the ghazal or the nazm comes through with its original feeling and inherent rhythm... and transalated them into simple English for those who do not understand Urdu well. The selection is ofcourse not representative and many great poets of this era and genre are not included...my choice was simple. I chose what I could instinctively hum on reading once it conformed to the theme.
