I think I shouldn't have continued writing about Rafi and given examples of his top position vis a vis others (again as examples). I should have stopped at writing about his 1977-80 period (includng 1979-82). I didn't know the reaction that would occur. I think this should only remain a song sharing thread started by Razia. We have already had many controversies in recent times, no need for another one smile.gif.

Unfortunate, Prince Ali Ji. The latest ideology here seems to be 'All singers are equal', 'All members are equal', 'All songs are equal', 'All periods are equal', 'All MD's are equal'. And so on.

So, just upload and download from now onwards!

Venkat

I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

Dear Music Lover !

You have to enusure that bit rate doesnot exceed 96-196 Kbps. Further the song is to be compressed
in either rar or zip format. Pls follow these rules and you would be uploading songs without any hassle.

Unlike the sisters who played politics, he never indulged in them, and when another talent became popular thanks to the backing of one of my absolute favourite MD's, The Grand Marshall (along with his son), and he was on the receiving end of lots of nonsense from the media, it didn't bother him, he came back so strongly and proved he was the best.

Is this irrelevant reference necessary Mr Prince. Which sisters you are talking
about here??

>> fair comment, Prince bhai the sisters comment is not relevant to this discussion

QUOTE(princeali @ Oct 27 2007, 06:59 AM) *

Not even Lata Mangeshkar made such an impact as Rafi did. She may have been the Diva of female playback singing, but Rafi was ahead of her.

Interesting. How did you arrive at such bogus conclusion?
Lata fans make a note of this please. wink.gif biggrin.gif

>>>And bade bhai ji how did you arrive that this conclusion is bogus laugh.gif Prince bhai has the right to air his opinion that by no extent of ones imagination is ludicrous when the nightangle has herself conceded on many ocassions that Rafisaab filled the void left by Saigal (besides commenting on the rare and unmatched skills of Rafisaab that most HFM fans are well aware) . Any one who has an iota of understanding of music would know that magnitude and meaning of Lata's testimony. The use of the word "bogus" is most inappropriate

>>>I dont think Lata fans (or for that matter anyone else) need to loose their sleep and their cool over this statement as knowledgable fans are well aware about the elite status of Lata ji in HFM.

QUOTE(princeali @ Oct 27 2007, 06:59 AM) *

not because Rafi was easier to get along with than Lata, but because of the fact that without Rafi, their songs wouldn't have been that great, and they wouldn't be able to present their compositions because no one could sing them besides 'Saatwan Sur'.

>>> here a member is simply voicing his opinion and I wonder why it has upset others, fair comment

Who declared it as fact ? Any supportings you have?
It seems that you have not heard any of Lata-Kishore, Lata-Manna,
Lata-Hemant, Lata-Mukesh duets. laugh.gif

>>>These statements are not only irrelevant but also most unfortunate as names of other legends have being dragged. Prince bhai has not used or made any comparisons and for a senior member to make these kind of statements is shocking to say the least and goes against the norms of this forum.

>>>This thread is about Rafisaab and Rafians are entitled to discuss and share the rare, intrinsic, excpetional and unmatched qualities of the Emperor of singing. I suggest that members who do not like hearing facts about Rafisaab either keep silent or they are free to go to other threads where Rafisaab is not discussed. I hope this is a fair comment.

>>>Please note that as responsible members we need to maintain mutual respect and respect the norms of this forum smile.gif

PLAYBACK SINGING STARTS AND ENDS WITH RAFISAAB. IN TERMS OF QUALITY, CONSISTENCY & VERSATILITY, RAFISAAB IS INFINITE LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF ALL SINGERS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER HIM.

Unfortunately or fortunately, SS Ji, probably as no interesting discussions/material exist in some other forums, some of (mind you, only some, not all) their members make a beeline to the Rafi Forum. As they do not know much about the subject to contribute in any way, they only keep finding faults.

Venkat

PS. 'making a Beeline' just means gathering readily at a place. It does not connote that the people concerned are BEEs, by any reckoning! I am making this clear as somewhere else, I was blamed of name-calling when I used a similar expression/proverb to make my point.

Now, we, the habitual posters on everything, should clear out in all fairness, as we do not want Razia Ji's thread to be hijacked yet again! My apologies yet again, Razia Ji.

I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!
