QUOTE(gkshyam @ Jun 21 2005, 07:47 PM) I'ld like to know one more thing...Is there only ONE KONKANI??? I mean....does the language differ from place to place??? I mean....the Konkani spoken in different parts of India....Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra etc.... ....can someone throw more light on this??? Haan there is a major difference.. Goan/Mangalore Xian speak somewhat similar North Canara Konkani is a bit different (probably Marati influence) South Canara Konkani has the influence of Kannada in it. N |

Hmm....Yes Nimmi....I guessed so.....that there might be some difference....Thanks for pointing that out to me...
PS: Btw...I know a song in Konkani....."Kaay Bolelo Kombdo Maazo ...Mai Makaa Dilelo.....Sakaali Uthun Kombdo Maazo Saadhu Ghaarntalo...." [the meaning is....something like.....I can't find my cock...(Kombdo)......since I woke up in the morning...I find it missing....something of that sort.....] Guess that should be North Kanara Konkani....(has some Marathi influence na???)...what about your Vishesh Tippani on this??? Love Music....... LOVE GK

(Mandrake watches humbly from the corner: how can all these people speak the language he yearns to learn?
"I need to keep trying" he whispers to himself...) Self - belief is the most potent force.

Mandrake told you na that I will teach you.. why are you pouting (literal meaning > why are you swelling your face ) N Nimii, it hurts and hurts and hurts. Really. To be able to read all those words, to ACTUALLY make sense of them and sense HOW close they are to marathi - and not to know how to pronounce them... You will not know what that means... Self - belief is the most potent force.

maje dukh jaana?? I SO want to be able to speak Konkani like my peeps in Goa do! With those nasal intonations. It hurts me to listen to Konkani spoken by someone who's lived in M'rashtra most of his life ... yours truly for one. You may get all the words right, but if don't get that tone, you ain't there! Kalle mare tuka? |
