I haven’t quite finished adding the pictures, there’s still a lot to come.
Thanks for the comments Nadeem ji and Khurram ji. "During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act" "You have enemies? Good! It means that you stood up for something, sometime in your life." |

Any more info on Tolington Market pic is welcome. Is that indoor market/mall? Building looks architecturally old though - Just another gummy bear fan

Thank you Noorie,
You have certainly brought out the feel of the city without any words... Lahore, glittering magnificently at night... "This isn't right, this isn't even wrong." Wolfgang Pauli (1900-1958) "There are no facts, only interpretations." Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) |

Hi
Seeing these pictures, I guess the adage, 'he who hasn't seen Lahore should not consider himself born ( Jeehne Lahore naheen dekhiya oh tey janmiya hi naheen)' seems to be right on the mark.Dekho kadee kismat wich hoya tey shaayid dekh hi sakaan. It is pictures like these and many other aspects of India's partition that make people like me wonder about the merits of that decision. Lovely pics that certainly portray Lahore in a flattering light. For me, the single best cuisine in Lahore is on the rooftop of Cuckoo's Den and that is the single best place to take a pic of the grand Badshahi Mosque.
Of course, none of these pics remotely suggests that Lahore is now the most polluted city in Pakistan, which would put it in reckoning for the world's most polluted city! Pakistan has gone from a population of 50 Mn at partition to 170+ Mn and counting today. A couple of hundred kids were probably born in the time you read this post! Snapshots of a handful of historic monuments that "developers" were unable to demolish cannot reflect the realities of the city - the dust, the smog, the traffic jams, high levels of crime, corruption and inefficiency at every level of govt. I'm happy to see HF friends expressing a longing to see Lahore one day. But, I hope they never do because I would not want the illusion badly shattered. Its an embarassment for all Pakistanis... Kind Regards Faraaj Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. - Victor Hugo There is only one better thing than music - live music. - Jacek Bukowski I hate music, especially when it's played. - Jimmy Durante No good opera plot can be sensible, for people do not sing when they are feeling sensible. - W. H. Auden |

Pakistan has gone from a population of 50 Mn at partition to 170+ Mn and counting today. Are they doing things to make it green? I know Delhi was horrible, one would ride bike in white shirt and get off with grey if not black. Pollution was taking its toll. One good thing they did was to start Metro line and switch over to CNG. It feels lot better than what it used to be. Do you guys have tube / Metro in Lahore too? - Just another gummy bear fan
