Even my all time Fav msuic are from 90s not from SJ or RD or LP. And no lata , rafi,KK, shabbir, amit etc songs features in them- QSQT, JJWS , Ashiqui etc. kisi din inn 3 movies ke song sunne ko mil jaaye............SJ, Rafi , Lata etc sab ke songs dump kar sakta hoon( !!). itna effect hota hai nostalgic albums ka. sonu kaaran nostalgic hai ya nahi, nahi pataa. parantu ye pataa hai ki "ashiqui" is one of the best romantic and melody album in the post 90 era. aur shaayad yehi vajah hai ki main abhi bhi is movie ke gaane soontaa hoon. but this was an achievement of musically less talented and untrained kumar sanu and nadeem shravan. ye baat so called musicians ko hazam nahi hoti. so they never appreciate these 2 personalities instead they critise them every way they can. i have seen people appreciating a.r. rahman every now and then, no doubt his compositions are musically rich but i haven't seen any top class romantic and sad song from him, this is the only reason i still like jatin lalit and nadeem shravan. at least JL has the capability of making simple things sound beautiful which is tough i think. but the trained musicians say bad about them to show their superiority. jaise koi educated person agar kuchh innovative kartaa hai to log appreciate karenge, lakin koi uneducated bandaa kare to log thodaa use neechaa dikhaane ki koushish zaroor kartaa hai. hai na ? same goes for actors also. shehar ke log gaaonwalon ka mazaak udaate hai, because they are crazy for govinda and mithun. are gaaonwaalon ko kya pataa ki shehar ki haalat aur bhi battar hai. yahaan to log salman, fardeen aur john ko lekar paagal hai, the situation is quite worse here ... most TALENTED singers: 5. SONU NIGAM 6. HARIHARAN 7. YESUDAS 8. S.P. BALSUBRAMANIUM 9. MOHD. AZIZ 10. TALAT MEHMOOD i got it all except 1 fact, how come sonu nigam is at no. 5 and yesudas, SPB at no. 7 & 8 ? aap kis talent ki baat kar rahe hai ? khair jo bhi ho, best singer banne ke liye shaayad us talent ki aavashyaktaa nahi hai ... and in best singers list, sonu nigam is no where around. Jo Milte hain, voh nahi milte
Aur Jo Nahi Milte, Vohin Vaastav mein milte hai Kaaran jo hai, voh nahi hai Aur jo nahi hai, vohin hai. Ye keval Shabdo ki heraa-pheri nahi hai Aur heraa-pheri hain bhi Yehin Darshan hai Aur isi hone naa hone, milne naa milne ke beech mein maayaa kaa samudra hai |

I just made a thread in the Rafi forum talking about how Udit is an all time great and in the same league as Rafi & Kishore. Although I object to Udit's abilities by seeing that his live performances aren't nearly as good as what we see in the studio (and this makes me wonder how big of a role technology plays for him - although with technology for all singers - he is still #1 by far imo), the bottom line is that I love the soundtracks from Udit. Sometimes Udit's voice is TOO FLAVORFUL (it is inappropriate to lend his voice to a common man or just any actor in a movie) whereas Rafi's was natural for anyone but in either case, Udit is awesome. Ratings: (1) Mohammed Rafi (2 and 3) Pick between Udit and Kishore (4) Manna Dey (5) Mukesh (6) Talat Mehmood; Kishore is a MUCH BETTER LIVE PERFORMER than Udit but I think generally, Udit has a better voice (call me crazy). One of my favorite Udit songs: Main Yahan Hoon bro udit is definitley a good singer but we can never replace legends, iam a huge fan of udit, when i first heard mat ro mere dil from ayee milan ki raat, i fell in love with his voice, iam glad u like him. take care hey shahzad, it seems to me that u r a real fan of Narayan saab.. I agree 100% on ur comment.. He is the only existing bollywood singer with originality and melody in his voice and a winner in long run... If I compare the voice of Kishore and Udit , I would definitely go for Udit Narayan... Although Kishore Kumar is a legend , it was the craze and extra- x-factor of Kishore which made him the King of Bollywood which Udit lacks....But to me Udit is simply the best....His voice only gives justice in todays romantic songs |

I clearly had (and still have) a lot of learning to do. Keep in mind that the early posts of this thread were months ago when I was new to the forum. It was foolish of me to compare Kishore and Udit. I like Udit but Kishore is clearly superior as singer and in terms of overall voice quality. I apologize for my foolish statements. Having said that, a lot of the songs that Udit sang, Rafi could have sang more perfectly - but I'm still happy with Udit's version and would like them to be left alone as part of Udit's legacy. Had Rafi Sahab been around - he'd have agreed with me. Udit's songs will be remembered many years from now as they are GREAT. To answer my own questions and return to topic...according to a RANDOM, UNRELIABLE web page - Udit was born Dec 1 1960. So his birthday is coming up and he will turn 47. That means he still has at least another 13 years to go strong. Rafi Sahab and Kishore were going strong till mid to late 50s but they also rehearsed songs more often as it was tougher to do so back then - so I hope Udit can sing at his best for another 10 yrs or so. As for how many songs...still don't know.
