An alumnus of the prestigious Bhatkhande School of Music, S N Tripathi revealed his illustrious musical upbringing in every composition he created, consigned, as they unfortunately were, to pulp historicals and mythologicals. Arguably the greatest among the unsung master-composers in Hindi cinema, the creator of "Aa lautke aaja mere meet" and "Zara saamne to aao chhaliye" deserves, at the very least, a better memory than he commands. Hear, for example, this master composition, in the vivid vocals of Rafi, from a film called - predictably - 'Durga Pooja':

(3.08/160)

Anyone who could post these other numbers from the same film?

(1) Jai he Durgamata - Asha
(2) Dil ki har pukaar kahe aaj baar baar - Asha
(3) Ek joru baayen to doosri hai daayen - Shamshad
(4) Yeh gajre le lo - Asha & Master Gopal
(5) Maiyya he maiyya - Asha
(6) Mera man hai magan - Asha & Rafi
(7) Gali gali mein phiroon dhoondti - Asha
(8) Mera ho balidaan - Asha
(9) Taqdeer ne apna kaam kiya - Master Gopal

R&D,

Thanks a lot for this song by Asha.
The song feels a bit newer than 1954. Is there any possibility of the song belonging to Durga Pooja (1962)?
I don't have the song listing for either movies to check.

I can't tell whether it is newer or not.

It was uploaded by Dharmvir ji on Mar 28, 2006. Best to ask him the details.

R&D,

Thanks a lot for the link. I think it is from the 1954 movie only.

Harishankar has listed a song '(6) Maiyya he maiyya - Asha'.
Earth Music has a listing 'mayya he tere bina ab hamaare toote hain sahaare'.
I listen to the song line as 'tere siwaa ab hamaare, chhoote hain saare sahaare, tujh ko yeh dukhiyaa pukaare'
I think, all these refer to one and the same song.

Request for Asha ji's Track From Durga Pooja...

For me, singing sad songs often has a way of healing a situation. It gets the hurt out in the open into the light, out of the darkness.
