I think I have a few more songs from this film - I even remember one called Mast Jawaani - but can't find them just now. I need a good 2 weeks (which I won't ever find!!) to sort out and properly label all my unsorted songs.

Well anyways, here are 4 other songs. The audio is pretty decent given the rarity of the album...I don't know if these songs have been shared on the internet in the past.

(Nargis) Taqdeer (1943)

Nargis turned barely 14 when she acted in this movie as its leading lady. It was against her wishes. She wanted to be a doctor like her father. But her mother was grooming Nargis to be an actress. When one of Indian cinema's greatest directors, Mehboob Khan came with the offer to act in his movie "Taqdeer", Nargis couldn't pass up the opportunity. The movie became a huge hit and Nargis' taqdeer changed forever for good. Thanks to the great Mehboob Khan and this movie, Indian moviegoers gained one of the greatest actresses of our times.

Agha Jani Kashmiri was associated with Mehboob Khan from the beginning of Khan's directorial career. Kashmiri wrote many of the stories for Mehboob's movies and also penned their dialogues. Mehboob Saab appointed him as diction and speaking coach to Nargis. Kashmiri Saab was a taskmaster and worked hard with Nargis preparing her for her role in this movie. In the end after the movie was released and became a huge success, everyone concerned was gratified with the results.

I am uploading these songs in two back-to-back posts where the sensually distinct singing voice of Shamshad Begum is at the center stage with that great actor Motilal giving assist in some songs. The following are the details of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves…

Meena Kumari, in her early career, played in many mythological films. This was one of them. It has some beautiful songs by Tripathi ji. These are all by the courtesy of the Forum members.
