This musician was very accomplished. He died at an early age-he was only 47 years of age. His favorite instrument was Sarod and he also played Guitar and Flute with equal facility. He has a very robust method of playing. He Trained with Ustad Allaudin Khan. The sound of his Sarod is quite resonant and somewhat unique. If anyone has more of his recordings, please post them. I am mesmerized by this sound!

Vasant ji's son is one of my gurus and I have had the fortune of listening to many of Vasantji's concert recordings from the family's private collection. He was a wonderful player, right on par with Ud. Ali Akbar Khan at his prime. It is a pity we lost him so young. May his soul R.I.P! I have listened to the Sarod masters for over 40 years and find this player to be about the most artistic and yet technically correct in his playing. |
