Lata Mangaeshkar & Mohammad Rafi have sung about 400 numbers of the duets toghether inbetween 1947 to 1979. Lata-Rafi has sung the highest numbers of the duets (almost 77 numbers of duets) only for Laxmikant-Pyarelal, yet another Record for LAXMI-PYARE.

You will find some different variety which includes, Gazals, Western Style and Cabaret, Indian Classicals, Indian Folk with sweet melody and the quality music, in all the songs listed below. It is difficult to select a very few songs of Lata-Rafi & LP combination. I have tried to select some the best songs of Lata-Rafi and LP combination according to my choice.

Ajay-bhai:

Thanks for that interesting post.

Recently, one of our members had posted a very pertinent "complaint" that music publishing companies rehash the same popular songs under different titles in various compilations. That they don't reach into their archives and pull out rare old songs that are not available.

The songs you have listed are no doubt excellent choices, but they are not rare/un-available. In fact they are mostly famous and popular numbers. IMHO, HMV does not need any "encouragement" to compile yet another album of the popular genre.

It is wishful thinking on my part: It would be a boon to serious fans of HFM if they would issue albums of rare unobtainable tracks. (Would you believe that L-P's Rafi-sahab gem "Tere Pyar Ne Mujhe Gham Diya" was not available for a long time?).

But I guess such albums would appeal only to serious music fans and have limited sales. Not an attractive commercial proposition for them, I guess. sad1.gif

If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Very interesting write up Ajayji.  I  would only draw attention to correct the factual errors as under:

(1) Naach Utha Sansar had lear pair of Shashi Kapoor & Hema Malini and if I am correct, Tere Sang Jina song has been picturised on them.

(2) Aadmi Musafir Hai song is from the film Apnapan and not Arpan.

Thanks guys. I have never heard the song "Teri Haseen Nigahon Ka"Devi (1970)" - does somebody have it?

Also, "Wapas" hero-heroines are Azra and Alka.

Some other fabulous duets from the duo are in - Aan Milo Sajna, Anokhi Ada, Banphool, Inteqaam, Nagin, Dost, Jalte Badan, Ladies Tailor, Mastana, Pyasi Shaam, Asha, Jeet etc.
