Just now seeing Mahesh's post that Road No. 303 is composer C. Arjun's debut film, here is a thread dedicated to the composer's for whom Geeta ji sang in their debut albums.

1) O P Nayyar - Aasmaan (1952) - 4 songs of Geeta ji
2) C. Arjun - Road No. 303 (1963) - Sun lo meherbaan
3) N Dutta - Milap (1955) - 5 songs

Requesting listings of more such instances from the knowledgable members.

4]-r d burman-raaz[incomplete],

5]-aziz khan-flying prince[1946]-not sure about this but aziz khan started composing music in 1946,

Thanks Mahesh. Do you have Geeta ji's song (s) from Sheeshe ki deewar (1954) ? This is a news to me that S D Gupta composed music for films and Geeta ji sang for him too..

Vinod - Ek Thi Ladki(1949)

There may be others as well. What was MD Jimmy, Madan Mohan, Chitragupt and Avinash Vyas's first movies? They had used Geeta ji's talents extensively as a lead singer. Did she sing in those first movies?

vinod made his debut in 1945 in khamosh nigaahein.ek thi ladki was not his first film.

Thanks HB, I am glad you liked the concept.

Aankhen was Madan Mohan's first film as composer. Meena Kapoor sang the famous song "Mori atariya pe kaaga bole" for him in this film (I read somewhere that Lata ji refused to sing for a newcomer composer!). I am not sure if Geeta ji sang any song for this film of Madan Mohan.

If Aankhen was his first movie, then Geeta ji doesn't have any song in that movie. Other than that Meena Kapoor song, Shamshad Begum had five songs. There was no other female singer. Rafi, Mukesh, Raj Khosla and Madan mohan himself were the male singers for the movie. I love a shamshad-mukesh duet from the movie, "Humse Nain Milaana B.A. pass kar ke"!

Which were MD Jimmy, Chitragupt and Avinash Vyas's first movies?

Also, was Rangeeli(1952), the first movie of MD Chic Chocolate? (former assistant of C. Ramachandra). If so,
this movie had two songs by Geeta ji:-
1. Humne Yeh Dil Lagaane Ki
2. Raat Bhi Rangeen hai Mausam Bhi Rangeen hai

I am looking for this second song. if someone has it do please upload it.

Reported to have composed music for 3 films in 1946 before composing a song for Geeta ji in 1947.

Reported to have composed for a film way back in 1944. First song for Geeta ji not before 1949. He could have composed music for more films betwen 1944 and 1948.

Wow Mahesh ji. Glad to see two more additions.
This shows the great approachability of Geeta ji to new composers. She's probably second to only Shamshad Begum in this regard for supporting new composers to come up!

I found the filmography of Chik Chocolate (actual name A.X. Vaz) http://www.downmelodylane.com/composers_b.html#chic. It seems this was his second movie. First was Nadaan(1951).

The other song of Rangeeli is also quite nice and surprisingly less talked one of Geeta ji.

G S Kohli's debut was Lambe Haath (1960). It did not have any Geeta Dutt songs.

I am not aware of any film before Shrimatiji that had music by Jimmy, so that could be his debut. But I'm not sure....there is virtually no information available on Jimmy. Maybe someone with HFGK can confirm.

jimmy/james singh gave music for muqaddar[1950] which was most probably his first film.it had songs by asha and kishore.

Mahesh ji,
I have a Kishore-Asha duet from Muqaddar, which I have tagged as Khemchand Prakash. I remember reading somewhere that Kishore Kumar sang his first duets with both the sisters under Khemchand Prakash (Ziddi and Muqaddar). Did Jimmy compose just a few songs in the film? Or did he complete the score after Khemchand Prakash's death or during his ill-health?

The movie is probably originally having Khemchand Prakash as MD. Due to his health Bhola Shreshtha completed the score for his five songs (three by Nalini Jaywant, one shamshad solo and one Asha-Kishore duet). In addition three songs have been composed by James Singh (two are asha-kk duets and third is asha-arun kumar duet). Geet Kosh is silent on MD of one of the songs (an asha-kishore-arun Kumar trio).
