My wife collects Ganesh vigrahas. Jokes apart, we must be having around 50 small idols. But she insists on displaying all of them. And she wasn't amused when I reduced the clutter and removed half of them and stored them. On the day of Ganesh Chathurthi she wanted to know where they were.
Right at the entrance to our home there is a regular picture-size Ganesh engraving, below which is a table with 24 small Ganesh idols. And every evening we light a lamp there, which can be seen from outside. I consider it as a welcome lamp, aside from any religious significance: Welcome to our home (provided you bring bottle of wine with you). If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Pran- prathishta ek pooja hoti hai jismaine murti ke andar bhagwaan ka aahvahan karte hai jub tuk ye ceremony nahi hoti murti ka koi importance nahi hai mandir main bhi jitni murtiyaan hoti hai is ceremony ke baad hi hoti hai but this means that we have to pray daily with everything prashaad phool phal shankh- naad etc....therefore generally no one keeps it at home.... my grand father does it every day and when he is out of town my mamaji aur naani ji pray

Any God can be angry with us. We do all the worshipping for make the Gods happy. So it's not that they do bad things to us, but when they dont help us in our bad times, we have to go thru hardships. Thats how I see it.
