Friends,
It was only after I joined HF that I came to know this. There are at least twelve pairs of Rafi Saab's songs which are almost identical in tune. PAIR-I: 1. "Ek Chameli Ki Mandwe Tale"--Film: Cha Cha Cha(1964)---MD:Iqbal Quereshi--Rafi and Asha 2. "Aaj Mausam Ki Masti Mein Gaaye Pawan"--Film:Banarasi Thug(1962)---MD:Iqbal Quereshi---Rafi and Lata PAIR-II: 1. "Tu Hind Bane Ya na Musalmaan Banega, Insaan Ki Aulad"---Film:Dhool Ka Phool(1959)---MD:N.Datta---Rafi 2. "Kya Kya Na Sitam Tujh Pe Huve Mehlon Ki Raani"---Film:Mohini(1957)---MD:N.Datta---Rafi Incidentally, within each of these Pairs, the MDs are the same! Firends, please let me know if you know any other such almost identical pairs. Mind you, only almost identical pairs. Not similar pairs, of which there are plenty! Venkat P.S. Another seven or eight pairs have been discovered in the following posts! "Aaj Mausam Ki Masti Mein Gaaye Pawan"--Film:Banarasi Thug(1962)---MD:Iqbal Quereshi---Rafi and Lata PAIR-II: 1. Firends, please let me know if you know any other such almost identical pairs. Mind you, only almost identical pairs. Not similar pairs, of which there are plenty! Venkat Incidentally, it was only yesterday that I heard the song from Banarsi Thug and I was telling everyone at home that this sounds identical to Ek Chameli Ke Mandve Taley - the second being the most popular. And here you are with the interesting info that such songs do exist! Interesting, Venkatji. NASIR. NASIR

I find similarities in these two songs mentioned below - the feel, the tune and even the lyrics are just about the same in both the songs.
Raja Saab - Kisi Meharbaan Ki Nazar Dhoondhte Hain Boot Polish - Tumhaare Hain Tumse Daya Maangte Hain |

Hum Tumse Juda Hoke
Mar Jayenge Ro Ro Ke and Sau Baar Janam Lenge, sau baar fanaa honge ae jaane wafa phir bhi hum tum na juda honge "Shikwa nahin kisise, kisise gila nahin,
Naseeb mein nahin tha jo - humko mila nahin.." |

Main Kal Phir Milungi (Lata & Rafi) - Dr. Vidya & Kisi Ki Mohabbat Mein (Asha & Rafi) - Kaise Kahoon Both have the same exact tune, both are composed by S.D Burman. Friends, Could someone please upload these two songs mentioned by Prince Ji, as I am not able to exactly place them? The idea is to hear them and see whether they are as 'identical' as the Iqbal Quereshi pair and N.Datta pair that I mentioned in my first post. Coming to the other songs mentioned by USR Ji, Paresh Ji and Nasar Ji, my humble view is that they are similar in some parts such as mainly the Mukhda, but are not almost identical (both in Mukhda and Antara) like the two pairs that I mentioned. Regarding Anupama Ji's Kitna Rangeen song and Aaj Ki Raat Badi song, no doubt, they have a great amount of similarity, but still fall short in the extent of identicalness. While I know her Boot Polish song well enough, I need to hear her Raja Saab song once again to understand the extent of similarity. Why I am probing this subject so hard is that I wish to compile a list of such almost identical pairs (not just similar pairs). Venkat PS. On a rethink, Paresh Motiwala Ji's Yeh Hawa Yeh Raat (Talat) and Tujhe Kya Sunao (Rafi) have a very great degree of identicality both in Mukhda and Antaras. I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!
