लता की आवाज़ अंग्रेज़ी गाने में चित्रांश पियूष लता मंगेशकर इनदिनों कम फ़िल्मों में गा रही हैं लता मंगेशकर और अंग्रेज़ी गाने ये दोनों ही बेहद बेमेल से लगते हैं. अपने साठ साल के करियर में लता मंगेशकर ने कभी अंग्रेज़ी में गाना नहीं गाया. खैर, गाना तो दूर की बात है लता मंगेशकर ने हमेशा ही अंग्रेज़ी के शब्दों और वेस्टर्न म्यूज़िक से परहेज़ किया है. हालांकि 1981 में आई फिल्म 'एक दूजे के लिए' इसका अपवाद ज़रूर रही है जिसमें उन्होने "वी आर मेड फॉर ईच अदर...समझे" शब्द का इस्तेमाल किया था. इसके बाद लता मंगेशकर ने हमेशा ही वेस्टर्न म्यूज़िक से दूरी को बरकरार रखा. लता मंगेशकर ने करीब 20 भाषाओं में गाने गाएं हैं, और अपनी सुरीली आवाज़ से लता मंगेशकर ने न सिर्फ देश में बल्कि विदेशों में भी अपने करोड़ों प्रशंसक बनाए हैं. लेकिन अब तक पश्चिमी देश लता की आवाज़ के जादू से अछूते ही रहे. पर अब ये इंतज़ार खत्म हो चुका है. जी हां, लता मंगेशकर ने पहली बार एक पूरा गाना अंग्रेज़ी में गाया है. ये गाना है निर्माता निर्देशक संतोष कुमार जैन की नई फिल्म द लाइफ स्टाइल 'इन जेनरेशन नेक्सट' का. करीब डेढ़ सौ करोड़ रुपये की लागत से बनने वाली ये फ़िल्म पूरी तरह से अंग्रेज़ी में होगी. नया संगीत.. ये गाना और इसका संगीत बेहद नया है, फिल्म अंग्रेज़ी में है और अंग्रेज़ी गाना कहानी की ज़रूरत है और फिल्म की कहानी में इसका बेहद अहम योगदान है लता मंगेशकर फिल्म की नींव रखते वक्त ही इस फिल्म के लिए निर्माता संतोष कुमार जैन ने मन बना लिया था कि वे इस फिल्म के कम से कम एक गाने में लता मंगेशकर को बतौर गायिका लेंगे. संतोष कुमार जैन कहते हैं कि "मुझे लता जी को इस गाने के लिए मनाने के लिए काफी मशक्कत करनी पड़ी, लता जी को ये समझाना पड़ा की मैं क्यों अंग्रेज़ी में उनसे गाना गाने की ज़िद कर रहा हूं." दरअसल संतोष कुमार जैन की ये फिल्म युवा पीढ़ी पर आधारित है और इसमें गंगा नाम की एक अप्रवासिय भारतीय लड़की इसकी मुख्य किरदार है और इस किरदार के लिए संतोष लता मंगेशकर की आवाज़ चाहते थे. संतोष कहते हैं,"इस गाने में लता जी ने आज के दौर की सभी नई गायिकाओं को पीछे छोड़ दिया है, ये गाना भारतीय संगीत की दुनिया में मील का पत्थर साबित होगा." इस गाने का संगीत दिया है मशहूर संगीतकार राम-लक्ष्मण ने. दरअसल इस गाने को राम-लक्ष्मण ने फ्यूज़न का रुप देने की कोशिश की है. इस गाने में पाश्चात्य संगीत के साथ साथ संस्कृत के श्लोक का भी इस्तेमाल किया गया है. लता मंगेशकर खुद इस गाने को लेकर बेहद उत्साहित हैं. उन्होने कहा," ये गाना और इसका संगीत बेहद नया है, फिल्म अंग्रेज़ी में है और अंग्रेज़ी गाना कहानी की ज़रूरत है और फिल्म की कहानी में इसका बेहद अहम योगदान है." इस गाने के बाद लता मंगेशकर के प्रशंसकों के लिए ये एक नया अनुभव ज़रूर होगा. लेकिन ये गाना लोगों को कितना पसंद आएगा ये तो फिल्म का म्यूज़िक रिलीज़ होने के बाद ही पता चलेगा. dhall This post has been edited by surhall: May 12 2009, 03:35 AM Attached image(s)

This is interesting. How Lata Mangeshkar renders this song remains to be heard, but some of her past forays into singing lines in English have been embarassing. The Ek Duje Ke Liye songs was still OK, so was "I am in Love, she is in love" from Aashiq Hoon Baharon Ka, but if you have heard "Main Rita Colombo Ki", an obscure song from an obscure film (Ek Daaku Shahar Mein, 1985), you will understand what I mean. There was a lot of English in this song, and Lata was clearly not comfortable with it.

I don't think I have heard the song you mention Aditya-ji
I liked her little bit of English in that duet with Sanu - Honton Pe Bas Tera Naam Hain....Jaanam I Love You... And another Lata-song with just two words of English that I absolutely loved is "De Taali Bade Shor Se"....where she says "Oh Baby...." -- it was so awesome (to me at least) And then you have the bhajan "Everybody Love Sai".....quite a few examples of such LM songs.
